    Hi Everyone,

As my screen name implies, I’m a blue state refugee who is looking to move to the Dallas area sooner rather than later. I thought I had four more years to plan this move, but apparently not. I found this forum by searching “TX gun politics forum.” I had a summer job in Dallas when I was in college and I always liked Texas. I never imagined I would be moving there under these circumstances.

I’m currently employed in DC but looking for work in the Dallas area (Dallas has a spectacular job market so I have high hopes). I would love to make friends in the Dallas area, especially if you are a real estate agent or an IT recruiter, so please reach out if you are so inclined.

One thing I’m concerned about... I have been following with great interest the flurry of anti-gun bills filed in Austin this year. What the heck is up with that? Do they have a prayer of passing? How do folks like that get elected in Texas? I’d love to make some local Texas friends and talk more about this. I’d hate to move there and then find TX turning into another Maryland.

Thanks for having me here. I appreciate this forum.

    Not where you are
    DFW
    AUSTIN
    HOUSTON
    SAN ANTONIO

Almost all the large metros inTX are becoming more BLUE.

    Austin is a liberal bastion.

Rural areas are still holding out but we are getting out voted by large metros.

If I was moving to TX now DFW and HOU would NOT be under consideration.

Welcome to TGT. The welcome will be extended if you move here to keep Texas free.

I'm not in IT or real estate, but am outside of Fort Worth.

    Welcome to TGT.

You will be welcome in Texas as long as you check your DC politics at the border.

We are already having an influx and while we are a friendly and welcoming state, we like it just as it is.

Now with that being said, none of the bills I’ve seen posted stand a chance of advancing in our current Legislature. But that doesn’t stop them from trying every chance they get.

Howdy...I'm a real estate investor who renovate/sells distressed homes (aka flipper), and am also working on my real estate license.

My mentor owns a brokerage (where I'll be working), and is also a wholeseller (the source for my deals).

And my wife is an IT director at a global financial services company that has a location here, and all over the world.

    Happy to chat anytime!

The DFW metroplex is almost ten thousand square miles. Sometimes you need a hotel and overnight stay if your going from one side to the other during rush DAY. Lol

Shirley Coleman is a realtor with Keller Williams.

I've known her since I was a teenager in church back in AZ and she helped me find a home when I moved to texas 10 years ago. Tell her Chris Allen sent you. Millie's son if she draws a blank.

Jer'Leigh Thompson is a broker who represented me on my last deal this past year.

As for IT recruiters, cant help you.

Leave Blue state bullshit behind when you come to Texas. And close the gate behind you as we have enough feral trash wondering in and dropping their leavings everywhere .

    Oh, welcome.

A lot of the IT related companies are in or near the Northern Dallas area. I would recommend avoiding the Dallas county area and live in the southwestern area of Collin County which is just north of Dallas that way you are not in the jurisdiction of the liberal city of Dallas but you can still easily get to Dallas county if the job you get ends up being there. Go to google maps and check out the layout of each of the counties and you will see what I am talking about. I have worked IT related jobs in the area and I am presently doing software technical support for proprietary software as there are those types of jobs available here as well.
