Too bad man. I just bought 6 fde hexmags. Best deal I could find
Personal preference. Many folks buy hex mags.

Avoid promag and no name metal mags at all costs.

There are several decent mags out there like the various USGI manufacturers including okay, sure feed, label...which is now D&H or makes D&H mags for PSA and several other private branded mags...C products which does the same thing.

There is also Lancer which makes a decent mag.

Some mags are really expensive and not worth it when you get just as good quality for around 10 bucks.

There are a couple threads on here going thru the list of mag manufacturers. Try a search for AR mags.

Gen 3 cost more, but come with dust covers that also reduce pressure on feed lips and may be worth it. Some guys like aluminum for mags that will remain loaded.

Nothing that hasn't been mentioned, but magpul, D&H, OKAY are all good. What I will add is that you grab a few pmag 40's. At least to have....or, maybe even a pmag 60 drum. Something higher capacity. They are nice to have.

The first rule is to have mags that work as the mag is the weak link in the AR system.

Again do a search and take in lots of info.

I suggest as a baseline you find Find 10 pmags or USGI mags and buy them and you will be set for life. Then expand from there. If you get hex mags and dont feel comfortable sell them, you wont lose money for sure.

Remember advice on the internet is worth what you pay for it. Aggregate it and distill it to common denominators. Dont take just one opinion.

As for the Pmags, my son has had the same 10 thru almost 10 years in the military and a few deployments and plenty of combat in shitty environments and they still work fine and are loaded in his vest right now. As much as I like USGI mags they probably wouldnt have done any better or as well as the pmags have.

Hes experience is replicated thousands of times over in the units hes been in

Got order canceled on the hexmags and ordered 6 pmags. 3 for each pew pew. And then found 500 rds for $380. Already broke the bank with everything purchased today. If I could afford the 40s or a 60 round I'd get one.. Hopefully I will have time to order in the weeks coming.

We shall see what happens with the admin running things. Praying things don't go the way they're looking to go.

The best deal I found for Pmags was PSA with free shipping if you order more than 5.

Wanted to get the 10 packs but they're all sold out everywhere

As late as 2019, PSA was selling 1000 rnds, usually Federal, for $300 + free shipping, the other deal which I availed myself of repeatedly was the same + 10 Gen 2 Pmags for $350... So, in that deal PSA was valuing Pmags at $5... Those were the days... only because they were recent. In the 90's, surplus could be had for less than $100/1000.

Yeah I wish I would've started preparing sooner in general when prices were so much cheaper.

Sad fact of life. when you get to the party late, you have to pay the higher cover charge to party. The Covid 19 Pandemic of last year drove up the price of firearms and ammo, so many people selling firearms and ammo are totally jacking up the prices. So now, it's pay what they are asking, wait it out and hope the manufacturers catch up, or do without.

Yessir. Oh well. Better late than never lol. I just can't believe how things have doubled to tripled. If I could get to my local academy early enough then I'd wait in line to get some ammo at normal price. But with all the early birds it sucks. And then later that ammo is either up for sale or stock piled. Noone local has any. And if they do then it's gouged as well

I'm mainly looking for advice on an AR build/ complete rifle.

I'm not scared to build my own. But it will be my first AR. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've been trying to do research and pricing things out. Would like to get something before any sort of bans go into place.

I'm looking for an everyday rifle. Plinking at the range along with being able to hunt. Just an all around kind of rifle.
Build one yourself. Spend the money on a quality barrel in a length & caliber you want. Buy a good smooth trigger and and a quality upper. Most of the other parts don't need to be the expensive ones. Once you have all that built choose a scope that reaches the distance you want to shoot.

Much easier said than done in today's market. Many parts are in very short supply, to almost non-existent in being available.

So the build it, rather than buy it option isn't as feasible as it was over a year ago. Buying a complete rifle might be the only viable option for the time being if a person wants an AR.

If your budget is $1k-ish, I don’t think you can do better thana Larue ultimate upper and any generic lower. Assemble it yourself or pay them $99 to do it for you.

They offer all the calibers...if they assemble it then it’s effectively a factory build IMHO

Get their lower or use any other lower. You’ll have to wait a bit, but that shouldn’t be a huge deal. God things come to those who wait LOL

GT Dist has police trade-in Colt LE6940s for $999

They weren't all beat up, looked to be in used but good condition.

These are the models with the monolithic upper with machined quad rails, free floated barrel and flip up front sight gas block. Normally $1400, was tempted to pick one up even though I already have one.

Aero Precision is a highly respected manufacturer of aircraft parts (Boeing) that branched into the AR market some years back. Going back six pages and determining the weapon in question is actually a pistol and not an M4 changes the issue...Aero Precision makes a variety of AR upper and lower styles all of which are excellent products, they now market most ( if not all) parts for a build. I have over a dozen AR’s that I built either with all Aero components or a majority of them. They own Ballistic Advantage a maker of top grade barrels marketing them as Ballistic or Aero markings. If the OP pistol is actually an Aero assembled weapon and given the extras (why scope an AR pistol?) the market value today would be around $1000, finding a purchaser would be the next stumbling block. On consignment it may bring $1200 but to get that the shop would price it at least $1500. If assembled at home reduce everything by $200.

I was mainly looking for advice on if the gun was worth purchasing at that price. I ended up going with a PSA upper build kit and "stealth" lower.. actually 2 of each to be exact lol.

I looked for an aero precision lower at a couple sites and couldn't find any in stock at the time. So I just went with the PSA lower.

I would've went more along with the full build route. But with things being so scarce and in and out of stock. I just bit the bullet for now, which they're even hard to find in bulk at this time.

I appreciate everyone's input and still look forward to any other sorts of advice anyone has towards any accessories that they've liked, preferred and so on. I.E. Bolt catch release, mag release, optics, single point slings, bug out bags, mag pouches and so on.
