    I wonder if this is any relation to the Schobel's in Columbus? Not that it matters, just wondering if that one is posted the same way or not.

    I used to eat in the one in Columbus all the time as a kid... It was the meeting spot where my parents would pick me up and drop me off from weekends with my grandparents in Houston... used to be delicious food...

    Why the fuss about Schobel's in NB, when the SAXET gun show has a proper 30.06 sign posted, where GUN patrons go?

    BTW, I like Schobel's food, especially their salad bar and buffet.

    Green Bay 28, Pittsburgh 25, as of 20:48, 3:49 to go in the fourth quarter.

    Yall think its funny do ya. Well I got news for ya, I can carry anywhere in Texas even though I dont have a CHL, and it's legal. AND NO IM NOT A COP!
    See if your CHL instructors can figure that one out!
    HA!
    OK, I'm stumped.

    Do you mean you can carry, albeit illegally? That's an important point that many of our enemies seem to miss. Laws can't stop people from carrying.

    Just a carry-over from a previous thread on 30.06 at SAXET, on which you, Sir, commented on.

    Thought it logical for a little further development on a similar topic, so, no new thread needed.

    Sorry to offend ,if offense was taken.

    Yea, well thats the same sign we have on our court house . I think you'll need to take it serious. Never seen a 3006 sign up there.

    Court house is a no-go for carry anyways.

    Sec. 46.03. PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED.
    (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly possesses or goes with a firearm, illegal knife, club, or prohibited weapon listed in Section 46.05(a):
    (1) on the physical premises of a school or educational institution, any grounds or building on which an activity sponsored by a school or educational institution is being conducted, or a passenger transportation vehicle of a school or educational institution, whether the school or educational institution is public or private, unless pursuant to written regulations or written authorization of the institution;
    (2) on the premises of a polling place on the day of an election or while early voting is in progress;
    (3) on the premises of any government court or offices utilized by the court, unless pursuant to written regulations or written authorization of the court;

    The sign above is not a proper 30.06 sign, and does not have to be followed.

    Nobody can carry anywhere in Texas, but if you carry an antique gun you can by pass most gun laws.

    Okay....update.

    I got an email back from the owner just now, explaining that the signage was place in error, and apologizing for the confusion. They have NO issues with CHL holders, and he's ordered corrected signage after having checked w/the TABC (that was why they'd posted it in the first place, to comply w/their requirements).
    So....rather than risk being at odds with 'em, we've got it addressed, new and correct signage coming (to address the bar area), and things are resolved. In my mind, it beats ignoring the sign and risking an issue.....

    Oh - and here's the original email I sent:

    Good evening!

    My wife and I were going to dinner this evening and decided to dine at your New Braunfels restaurant. As we approached, I noticed the "No guns" sign in your door. We went inside, and inquired as to whether that sign applied to CHL holders as well.

    Please understand - your people were pleasant and polite, but unsure, so they called a manager. The manager informed them that the policy applied to CHL holders....so we left.

    My wife and I both are CHL holders, and normally carry. Most of our family are CHL holders (or LEO's) and carry as well. Inasmuch as the background checks required to qualify for a CHL are extensive, I'm somewhat surprised to see this kind of posting.

    It's certainly your right to choose to ban those law-abiding folks who choose to exercise their right to be armed, and I'll respect that. However, I also felt it might be a good idea to contact you as well - because it may be that the sign's intent might be being misunderstood by your staff, as well, and actually be intended to act as a TABC signage.

    I would appreciate your response at your earliest possible convenience. If it is indeed your intent to preclude CHL holders, I'll be happy to pass the word around so that others don't accidentally miss the sign and possibly place themselves at odds with your policy.

    Respectfully,

    Hell if I know - you tell me - you're the one that thinks he knows all the answers.

    Isn't this thread about whether CHL carry is legal in this restaurant? If the place makes more than half their money from alcoholic beverage sales sold for on premises consumption, we can't legally carry there. I hope that's not the case so you can continue to carry in this restaurant.
