You guys need to get a room............maybe one by the hour.........lol...

If this thread was a waste of time....the Mods would have deep sixed it......

So............if one was to "mind their own business" one would never make a post........

It is difficult to post for many years and not offend someone somewhere even if innocently and not purposeful.......how the offended handle it, shows their character....not yours.....

Eh - anyone with their panties in a twist over this thread should go for a long, long walk themselves.

Its a well intentioned thread showing concern for their fellow man. Its not like you're asking for gubmint goon squads to go doing "welfare checks" and drag the people back here.

If people are such staunch "mind your own business" types, they should eat their words, shut up, and go sit in the dark in their own little hovel minding their business and leaving the rest of the world alone. They shouldn't care if someone else is showing concern for others, and wondering where those people are.

In the case of SATX, the concern was founded, and its unfortunate that he is no longer with us.

Every person that posts here adds to the flavor of the forum - for good or bad. It keeps the place interesting. When you lose a member, you lose some of what makes the place unique. Some people are no big loss when they go away, when others go missing the tone of the discussions changes.

I've watched other forums that have lost members - either thru death, disinterest, or disgust - and I've seen some that rapidly went down hill when a few "key" posters (not talking admins or mods, but just regular posters) to the point where traffic is a fraction of what it was, and the missing members wound up leading to others losing interest and leaving as well. From a business aspect, the forum hosts want to keep membership engaged and active. That's how they generate money. From a member aspect, keeping interesting discussions going is how you stay entertained, informed, and engaged.

So no, Axxe, you shouldn't go away. Its not like you're a Californian trying to tell Texans how to drive or something  Slough it off, stick around, shitpost to your hearts content!

@Sasquatch, dude, I'm humbled by your post, and thank you for the kind words sir. You are not only an asset to this forum, but moving here to Texas, an asset to this great state.

And that was pretty much my intentions behind the reasons for this thread, just as in the case of @satx78247 being missing from the forum. It was never about intruding upon anyone's privacy, and which ever members want to share information would be of their choice and decision as to who and how much.

There are a few members here that I interact with on the phone, and probably quite a few more that I have exchanged number with and have talked to occasionally. It's more of mutual arrangement sort of thing.

Tgt is the second forum I have been on. Long time ago I left northwest firearms because a mod was acting like a crazy democrat.

I miss Oregon at times but Texas allowed me to make quality friends and be closer to God. I’m far from being a good Christian but I owe my development to Texas and the some folks off here.

I found this place because of a Texan posting on Northwest Firearms. I still haunt NWF, but not a lot because I don't live there anymore. It does allow me to keep up on some of the regional goings-on there, because I still have friends and family there that I care about.

I've been around here awhile. Almost 10 years. Lots of people have gone MIA. The forum has changed, but the spirit has remained. I use to frequent other forums. This is only one I still come to. It's like home and it's many members of all types made it that way for me. But **** the Californians.

Okay some of them are cool.

was it this thread regional meets came up? I was thinking more about it and father in law asked more about it. We could probably accommodate 20. It’s a great thing for him too as he’s a gunsmith and would like more exposure. The range itself currently can’t have everyone shooting at once but it would be fun to host a shoot and bbq. A few members have already been out on private invite. Just a thought if dfw/Dallas/Waxahachie area members want something fun to do.

It's cool some people have private land to shoot on but inviting TGT members over is not the same as a TGT meetup. Just my .02

I don't totally disagree with that. But sometimes it comes down to accommodations and planning an event like the bi-annual TGT meet in the spring and fall.

I have hosted by invitation here at my house a few times in the past, but honestly, I just don't have the space or facilities to host a huge group of people here at the house. Not that I wouldn't love to do so, or have a ball, but the more people the bigger the logistics get to be.

Yeah...I can see you’re point. If I wanted to over complicate things. Lol On the other hand the two aren’t different at all. A meet up is to meet others and shoot. Inviting other members to shoot on private land is because I want to meet other members and shoot.

A tgt meet at a public range is more official. I don’t know. Whatever. Damn sam7sf and his fucking ideas.

I think even some of the less informal shoot and meets we have are a good idea and way to get to know other members in person, and helps the forum community as a whole.

I like the idea personally, even if they are smaller get meet and greets among members.

I thought you made a thread about people you pissed off and who quit posting? No?

And before you get defensive, I’m here ain’t I?

I think it is 2 separate things completely. The bi-annual meet and greet is wonderful, but typically help in Central Texas (luckily where I am at) but some don't want the expense of traveling that far. It could be 8-10 hours of drive time. Regional events would be smaller in scale, but perfect for other members to meet each other, share stories, guns and sling some lead downrange. Win, win! I, for one, say please don't discourage the regional meet ups / range days / lunches, but also still have the large state wide gatherings.

I did not discourage meet ups nor did I reference the bi-annual events.

Private invites to private property does not = a "TGT meet up". Just my .02

It sure seems to me all this explanation is proof they are not the same.
