    I have a 1982 RABBIT DIESEL
Back when I was working, we had a guy who was temporarily assigned to a post of duty across town. I mean, he went from a short commute to an office on the far north side to a ridiculous commute all the way across Houston and down to Galveston every day. Our rules for mileage reimbursement didn't apply to commutes except excess mileage for getting to a temporary post of duty.

He got a Rabbit diesel and his mileage reimbursement more than paid for his fuel; it more than made the entire car payment. For arcane political and procedural reasons, he was never formally reassigned to the POD where he was actually working so he kept getting reimbursed for his mileage while commuting. After spending a bit over two years at the "temp" POD, the car was paid off. Basically, the government had given him a free car.

He never failed to smile broadly when he told that story because, like me, he loved finding loopholes in the rules. :)

I really hate to admit that I know this, especially since that's a little girl, but I can't help but point out that if she continues that sort of behavior after she turns 18 she can turn it into a career. Some men (the inner workings of whose brains I don't pretend to understand) will pay a lot of money for the company of women who act like that.

Dammit, that was just last week.

Fair warning folks, don't ever trust Ben, especially if he says *I promise* to keep your little secret.

It's called freedom. They don't need your approval. 'MERICA!

Agreed. But, it IS funny when my neighbor (who never works his truck) extolls the virtues of his diesel-fired truck (lifted, oversized tires....NEVER been offroad or had more than a 300 lb payload in it) has the hood up doing a "minor repair" every month or two...and my gas-fired truck just chugs along. LOL

Bet your gasser hasn’t chugged along for 500,000 trouble free miles. I just change the spark plugs and oil in my diesel ever so often.
