Congrats! Any big plans for your new found free time?
Retirement? That is getting to do two and three times the amount of work for free! And no paid vacation time either!

Afternoon Y'all.....it's Throwback Thursday, or the Eve of Friday for some!

Mid 80's, very slight breeze, and sunshine again so far today.

Gooooood afternoon, earthlings! How's life? Been....hectic here.

Started a new job Monday. Learning how to maintain a pool. It's been interesting.

Here's the pool. Need to do the landscaping, the builder needs to the haul the trash, and I need to pressure wash the fence and house badly.

Hope y'all are well. What's new?

95 degrees, and I decide to ride my motorcycle to my dental appointment just a few miles of traffic away. I love to be on my bike, but it is hot sitting at a traffic light.
Riding through the midwest during a drought in 2012 the road was so hot I had to wear my insulated chaps to keep my legs from feeling as if they were burning. Temps were around 106.

No long term plans. Short term, I plan on doing a lot more bay fishing. Have a couple of home projects that work always seemed to get in the way, of. It's hot as Hades right now, but I will be spending more time at the deer lease this year. Road trip to SA, and visit family, a little more than I have lately. A couple trips to Louisiana, for some gambling. I'll be busy, but at least it'll be stuff, I want to do and not stuff I'm obligated to do. Of course, only time will tell how my plans pan out. I have been getting a lot of advise from friends & family members who are already retired.

    * A poem to which we can relate *

I remember the corned beef of my childhood,

And the bread that we cut with a knife,

When the children helped with the housework,

And the men went to work not the wife.

The cheese never needed a fridge,

And the bread was so crusty and hot,

    The children were seldom unhappy,

And the wife was content with her lot,

    well, maybe, maybe not

I remember the milk from the bottle,

With the yummy cream on the top,

Our dinner came hot from the oven,

And not from a freezer; or shop.

The kids were a lot more contented,

They didn't need money for kicks,

Just a game with their friends in the road,

    And sometimes the Saturday flicks.

I remember the shop on the corner,

Where biscuits for pennies were sold

Do you think I'm a bit too nostalgic?

Or is it....I'm just getting old?

Bathing was done in a wash tub,

With plenty of rich foamy suds

But the ironing seemed never ending

    As mom pressed everyone's 'duds'.

I remember the slap on my backside,

And the taste of soap if I swore

Anorexia and diets weren't heard of

And we hadn't much choice what we wore.

Do you think that bruised our ego?

    Or our initiative was destroyed?

We ate what was put on the table

And I think life was better enjoyed.
