Get a random table leg and use a long table cloth.

Are you looking for a temporary solution until you find the misplaced leg? Or are you planning on making a leg that looks identical to the others?
If you need just something temporary, I agree that slotting a piece of 4x4 isn't hard. I say you'd have more trouble with the recessed nuts. But again, a temporary solutions could use just carriage or lag bolts or similar.

One of the table legs disappeared on the move. Can anyone here cut something similar?

Make a weekend out of it and go shopping around the thrift stores that sell to college students and take in furniture when the students leave for summer. Try Salvation Army stores, furniture store scratch and dents for steeply discounted items. I did the scratch and dent for a mattress, bought a Stearns and Foster California King for $1K, it would normally have retailed for around $4K, the problem with it was a little grease on the underside from a forklift, I don't sleep under the bed!! Just my thoughts.

You could get something like this and a hand saw to remove the needed material and then stain/finish yourself.

Of course, I do not know the dimensions of the leg you no longer have to stand on. (Pirate reference here Hardee Har Har!) So this item may be too short.

Best bet is to go to the manufacture if you can, although there are a number of online outfits that provide table legs, and some do custom work.

    Check out tablelegs.com for starters.

To give you an idea of the equipment need to make a one-off at a reasonable price, I charged $750 to do these four for a guy who wanted taller legs for a desk in the "stand up desk" era about 8 years ago. I retired and sold all my equipment, otherwise I'd have a go.

Try the above outfit, my bet is there is a solution for you there.

not looking for anything pretty, just a temporary replacement so we can eat on the table

If that is the case, drill 4, 1/2 inch holes in each corner, insert appropriately sized eye bolt into the hole(s), tighten, attach some chain(s) locate ceiling joists and install in a matching pattern. Suspend table from the ceiling, no legs needed. Now you have not only made it easier to clean under the table, but you have a unique conversation piece when you have guests, including the backstory! :roflfunny:
