    I dunno about the best answer. Once the handguns are old enough, I'd want a revolver. While I'd be fine with a SAA, I'd prefer a double-action. Assuming I could get ammo, I wouldn't be averse to carrying a Colt 1877 if I could get Mad John to restore one for me. :)

    I've heard from him semi-recently. He's as much a rapscallion as ever. :)

    He's also, as far as I can tell, the only person in the country who makes period-correct screws of the proper pitch for restoring an 1877 Colt. It must be nice to have the market cornered on a part for which there's not enough demand for competitors to fight for your market but just enough demand that you can get horrifically high prices. If you're reading this, John, that's not an insult; that's admiration for your savvy.
