When budget enters the chat, clarity and tracking is what matters, not sfp or ffpHe hunts big game with a 308 and he uses a SFP scope, for the AR he needs a FFP
Her are some that fit his/the criteriaWhen budget enters the chat, clarity and tracking is what matters, not sfp or ffp

Her are some that fit his/the criteria
Monstrum Alpha Series 1-6x24 First Focal Plane scope
NightStar 1-6X24IRF First Focal Plane Rifle Scope
Sniper VT1-6X24FFP Scope
Let me know what you think of these before I send them to him
I'll find outI got to just ask, Why does he need a FFP scope? For most people that use a lower magnification scope on an AR, the focal plane really doesn't matter for the general ranges they are used for. If used for longer range work, most SFP scopes reticles are true at maximum magnification, and if you're using a 1-6x or 1-8x scope, you are most likely to have it turned to max when shooting at longer ranges.
In most cases at lower magnification ranges of FFP scopes, the reticle scales are almost impossible to see in most backgrounds.
For hunting, almost all of my scopes are SFP. All of my Long Range gun's have FFP scopes.
Since buying an ACOG is out of the question...Her are some that fit his/the criteria

Here's what he told meI'll find out
He is using .223/5.56? Unless he's got some 24" bull barrel he's not, or at least shouldn't be, shooting far enough to need FFP.Here's what he told me
With big game it's no problem targeting with a fixed reticle, with small game a larger reticle helps with targeting
How about theseHe is using .223/5.56? Unless he's got some 24" bull barrel he's not, or at least shouldn't be, shooting far enough to need FFP.
ESPECIALLY when we are talking budget optics.
FFP won't help when the optic is too dark to judge range or what you are even looking at.
If he wants magnification, Get this
Get this If he wants an LPVO
Get some halfway decent rings
Of those 3, I'd go vortex, only because they will stand behind their product. How about these
Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x40 Rifle Scope, Dead-Hold BDC Reticle CF2-31007
Ade Advanced Optics 1-6x28
Bushnell Nitro rifle scope 2.5-10x44
Will check on the SWFA SS 10x42 MOA
Did some research on the SWFA SS 10x42 MOA and I noticed it uses MRAD and not 1/4 or 1/2 MOA turrets which he is used toOf those 3, I'd go vortex, only because they will stand behind their product.
Bushnell might be ok, but i have no experience with that model.
The SWFA SS is a combat proven optic and a great value. They lacks some bells and whistles, but those cost extra
They have MOA adjustments, 1/4 at 100 yardsDid some research on the SWFA SS 10x42 MOA and I noticed it uses MRAD and not 1/4 or 1/2 MOA turrets which he is used to
In all the videos I have watched and studied it says the turrets are in MILsThey have MOA adjustments, 1/4 at 100 yards
Early ones had mixed mil/moa reticles and adjustments, new ones have MOA reticle/adjustmentsIn all the videos I have watched and studied it says the turrets are in MILs
You can order in MOA or MIL.In all the videos I have watched and studied it says the turrets are in MILs
