    1) I did a quick search and didn't see anything so forgive me if its a repost
    2) I posted here because I think it fits, if it needs to be moved then mods do your thing
Once they take off just let em go!
If you must follow get a vehicle description and a plate number and disengage. Many other innocent, non-involved people could have been hurt by the fleeing suspects.
The man in the story didn't do that and will now likely face invol. mansaugter charges IMO. I could be wrong but I'd be very suprised if he didnt face some serious charges at this point.
Little Elm property owner accidentally runs over, kills man after suspected break-in | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News | Frisco News
Frisco police say a Little Elm resident chased two men he suspected of breaking into his property for up to four miles early Wednesday before accidentally running over one of them.
Robert Ramirez, 43, told police that someone had previously broken into the lot near FM423 and FM720 on Monday night. Little Elm police received three reports of cars being broken into on Ramirez’s lot, which is used to park gravel haulers overnight, officials said.
When Ramirez drove up to his property about 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, he saw a Ford Explorer inside the fence and thought the two men might be thieves.
When he approached in his pickup, the men in the Explorer fled by driving through a fence. Ramirez chased the car as it traveled south on FM423 and onto Locust Drive in Frisco.
The driver of the Explorer, 32-year-old Jonathon Rager of Little Elm, stopped in a cul-de-sac and jumped out.
“At that point Ramirez is unable to stop in time,” Frisco police Lt. Jason Jenkins said. “As he hits the [Explorer] he keeps going and he hits Rager. It all happens in a split-second.”
Rager was transported by CareFlite to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, where he died.
The passenger in the Explorer, Nathan Johnson of Aubrey, was uninjured. He was arrested on unrelated warrants.
Police found no property belonging to Ramirez.
Jenkins said the district attorney’s office will review the case and make the final call about whether to file charges against Ramirez.

It should be interesting to see what happens to this Ramirez guy. It doesn't look good for him even though the others were obviously up to no good.

First they need to establish whether there was a crime committed worthy of a pursuit. Without any actual evidence of a crime found in their vehicle, this could get quite sticky for him. Grand juries don't like chases through public streets much, especially when somebody dies.

He was probably quite justified, but he may have a real crack to get out of. You are right. A GOOD attorney is a must here.

Oh I'm not saying they didn't deserve it, and yeah lethal force was probably a sellable item while on the property, but they tend to frown on civilian car chases just a bit.

Me, I dont really think you have a leg to stand on when you decide to run the SOB's over with your truck. Now I do like the idea of it and I must say the thought crosses my mind on a daily basis . Some people just piss me off! I also know that in court, they just wouldnt understand my decision for running someone over with my truck!!

Whether he gets off on criminal charges or not, he'll be sued by the family and it will probably ruin him.

Add this to your list: Don't chase bad guys. Shoot them before they leave the property.

Lethal force doesn't go for trespassing. Crimnal mischief at night, it could be fine. Question is, is there proof these two were actually committing a crime on his property?

For Deadly force to be justified in a property crime where you are not preventing the other from escaping with property it can only be used to prevent the crime, not to arrrest the person after committing the crime.

well be surprised. The bastard that ran Johnathon down like a dog faced absolutely no charges. Cops said there was not enough evidence!!! And yea Johnny wasn't the best person in the world but he still had alot of friends and family that love and care about him. And just to clarify the guy that ren Johnny over was not the property owner he was an EX employee. Complete and total BS if you ask me. Johnny was there for me when no one else was he loved my children like they were his own. And he did anyhting in the world for anyone all they had to do was ask. He would give the shirt off his own back if you asked him to. RIP JOHNATHON RAGER MY SWEET LOVE

Hmmmm let's think about this for a second.... I'm on your property late at night; you pull up and I jump in my truck and ram through your nice fencing. Think I am guilty of a crime ? Want to change your answer now???? Bottom line is this : Johnny Boy was playing with fire and paid the ultimate price; you want to play stupid bs games with other peoples shit, then by all means don't come crying when something bad happens.
What I tell my kids : I dont' give a damn if you started the fire or if you were just playing in it; when you get burned, don't blame it on me and DO NOT come crying !

I am sorry for your loss, but can not sympathize with the fact that "he wasn't doing anything wrong"......... BS !!
