    If it was me, I would stain the walls first ('cause I make messes!). Stain won't come out of grout!
    I actually spent some time thinking through the order of the jobs. I’m going with a darker grout and would be afraid to make a mess trying to pack the grout in near the walls.

    If I grout the floors first, then I can install the baseboard trim, then cover the floor with a dropcloth and tape for the staining.

    I am not saying this is the correct order but it seems to make the most sense for this job.

    It’s still amazing to me how installing the trim on paneling really hides a beginner‘s mistakes on miter cuts and corners,

    Still trying to figure out how to Fabricate a drain tray for the water heater to sit in in case/when it leaks. Something like heavy gauge paper that’s waterproof, think of a Chinese takeout container.
