    That wrist monitor is crap.
I have a wrist monitor that I use most of the time.

I've compared it to my Omron arm cuff enough to know that they compare well, except for high BP range, like >170 systolic.

Either one can show +-10-20 pts over repeated measures. The Omron actually has a 3 measure automatic setting...

The wrist monitor is way more convenient.

Wrist monitor is consistently 20 points higher than the regular cuff.

Now if I could find the solution for my low pressure that sent me to ER, I will be fine.

Pissed off more than one nurse requesting a larger cuff before starting; and proved to a couple of doctors that yes, it does make a difference.

Now, if they'll quit asking me whether I want a flu and shingles shot while they're doing it ...

    Just curious -
Do wrist monitor's send data/readings to folks who decide things for you based on your vitals? Like... insurance rates, are you healthy enough to carry... you know, little things like that.

The only place I have those used on me are doctors' offices. And they are always really high, even if I have had my meds 2-3 hours prior to my appointment.

Last week had an appointment. Took my BP before I left home about 2 hours after my meds. 138/81. Got to the doctors office and they used the wrist thingy on me. 186/95. There is no way that was correct. I got home and took it again after about 20 minutes. 135/80.

So its not a transmitting thing, its just a small device the doc uses. And its always a lot higher.

Seeing a new GP tomorrow, largely for convenience, but also because I wasn't really impressed with the other guy.

Now I get to go through all this setup crap again to maybe get them working right...

My wife was affected in a big way by salt. One of her docs confirmed something she found on the internet. That sodium levels and potassium levels are intertwined. She increased her potassium intake and was able to decrease her BP meds.
After my appointment tomorrow (after blood tests), I am going to start choline and see what it does...

"Some research shows that getting enough choline might help keep the heart and blood vessels healthy, partly by reducing blood pressure. Other research suggests that higher amounts of choline might increase cardiovascular disease risk."

"Some studies have found a link between higher intakes of choline (and higher blood levels of choline) and better cognitive function (such as verbal and visual memory)."

As many as 90% of Americans are choline deficient according to the article...

I have no problem with the shingles vaccine. Known a number of people who had very painful, long enounters with the shingles. A couple of them had it almost get in their eyes, which can cause permanent damage.

One of the BP meds I was once on would actually drive my BP extremely low during hard physical work (e.g., difficult to stay standing up). It was after this the new doc said the BP meds were not needed and have been fine since.

I have been taking COQ-10 for about a year. I think it’s giving me a bit more energy.

    Will look into choline.

Back in 2005 the optometrist saw something in my eye that concerned her, so she sent me to an eye doctor in Austin for further examination. They took my BP and it was 200 something over 100 something. They sent me to the OR.

Been on BP meds since. Now, depending on time of day and where I'm at, it ranges between 146/78 down to 111/68. It's always on the high end at the doctor's office.
Yeah higher at the Dr office and Dentist :)

Kind of strange. Some folks' BP seems very sensitive to salt intake, others not so. I have found that it makes no difference in mine.
