Great.............. let's insure it happens by panicking the gun owners/reloaders.........again...........
Let's insure what happens? That the prices go up - that they are going up seems to be a fact. I have seen three articles about Vista Outdoors sending out that letter. Would you rather they did not send out the letter and thus would have left everyone in the dark about it. I'll never understand someone apparently complaining about getting prior notice of SHTF. I cannot very well afford ammo as it is now but I am in need of a couple of calibers and ant to add some of another. So that's just what I did - not one bit of panic involved but rather a calculated purchase so as to avoid the price hikes that will be as high as 7%, after December 31, on what I just bought and to avoid any other possible further price increases caused by Bidenomics or by gas prices which may well rise due to military conflicts in the Middle East & Ukraine and due to Biden's anti-American green/woke very foolish policies relative to oil production. If you (generic) have the money, of course feel free to wait until prices go up to get what you want or need.

Vista Outdoor, a parent company to many firearms businesses, told Newsweek that it will substantially increase its ammunition prices due to "an anticipated global shortage of gunpowder."
The Minnesota-based company confirmed the authenticity of a December 1 letter sent to customers that it would go ahead with an across-the-board increase of its ammunition and gunpowder prices on January 1.

"Due to world events our suppliers have notified us of unprecedented demand for and an anticipated global shortage of gunpowder, and thus has increased our prices substantially," Vice President of Sales, Sporting Products Brett Nelson said in the letter. "We must therefore raise our pricing to help offset those increases."

I apologize for the different colored text. I was copying/pasting and it's not coming out right.

I noticed several months ago, that of all places, WalMart suddenly had all kinds of ammo on the shelf and the prices on most were close to $30 per box of 20 cartridges. On the component wholesalers shelves powder and primers have been in stock much more than in a long time. Some of the powder has gone from ~$35-50 per lb. There are some that have not moved that much.

Now, some of this is the effect of inflation of the dollar, but most of this is not coming from foreign sources. Although there are several good foreign sources.

    These are not "normal" times.

Demand for firearms and ammunition is still very high, but money to spend on it is hard for many to afford.

For the average consumer, most don't reload. It does take some time and money to gather what you need to begin the process. It is more practical to start with one or two caliber. That reduces the beginning cost. Those just getting into reloading, need a mentor to give them good advice, without doing it for them. This maintains safety and instills good practices.

I've been buying all kinds of components lately. Rather be a have than a have not. Luckily no wife or kids to hold me back. Lol. Between a reloader I know shutting down and a lady whose SIL(comp. Shooter) going back to college I've scored some exceptional deals. Essentially precovid prices across the board. Also took advantage of some black Friday deals to stock some buckshot, 6.5 creed ammo and some 9mm subsonic.

I'm probably set for a decade right now but if I come across more deals, I'm always in the market. 1-7% really isn't all that bad but it will make the panic buying snowball.
