Imagine a forum where, in the off topic section, you start a thread related to FISHING that gets locked down and you end up with a public reprimand from a mod because it's a controversial topic that could be offensive to some. I know Europe has it's share of pansies but this display of intolerance takes the cake. No, it was not my thread. I'm just baffled that there are actually dudes out there who are offended by that. Unbelievable. I'm at a loss for words.

Totally different forum. It's a watch forum. The thread was nuked. I thought watches were for manly men, not sackless dweebs. I held my tongue over there so I had to vent here.

The vast majority of their members are European. Some US members, but not a lot. Another, US based, dive watch forum I'm on is great. They trade knives and talk firearms and have great senses of humor. Still can't process the response to that thread by the mods.

If that forum didn't contain the most dense knowledge base for vintage seiko watches in the world, I would. Best I just not do that and only go back there if I have a question. My opinion of that group as a whole has changed immensely.

I hear that. The one other forum other than TGT I was intimately involved with was for Ford Ranger trucks - great people, great forum. I got into a couple of other forums and the people's beliefs were so alien to me I had to step back and was left with "what the hell?" - they were mostly Californians.

I remember The Firing Line gun forum would lock threads in the Off Topic section that weren't gun related. The rest of the forum was for everything gun related but for some reason the fudds who were mods didn't understand the definition of OFF TOPIC. No knife threads or even talking about guns in movies was allowed. I didn't go back after that.
