New batteries all seem to be trash. I think modern cars tend to kill batteries, too. Lots of offline drain and unless you take a long trip regularly you'll never fully recharge it.
I use to believe it was due to batteries being recycled over and over so lower quality. But I agree that parasitic drain and short trips are probably the culprit. Then my spouses vehicle is a hybrid so the 12vt is only charging when the ICE is running. Driving even less lately, I've begun trickle charging every 2 or 3 weeks with a battery tender.

I think it is due to that start/Stop crap
There's usually ways to permanently disable that if you look hard enough, but if she likes that feature for some reason find a battery that has a high reserve capacity rating. The extra reserve capacity help keep the battery from fully depleting while sitting there with all the electronics running.

Me and the wife unit have been married for over 30 years and she has never had a new vehicle..she has had some nice used ones but never her own new vehicle

So the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd went bye and this 2024 4Runner came home

I've wanted one and decided to get one before next year when they F them all up with a new engine instead of this beast that us probably one of the most reliable ever made

This is the Off Road Premium 4X4

The 2015 Cherokee got fresh coolant today at 76k miles. Jeep claims the coolant lasts 100k miles, but the test strips showed otherwise.
    Id agree
I did the coolant on my wife's 2016 GC at 97 k and I had to pull the plastic pressure tank and flush the hell out of it to get it clean.

Some newer vehicles need to be programmed when a new battery is installed. The computer needs to be told to reset the amount the alternator charges the battery.

Might be worth looking in to.
I learned that the hard way on my truck. Battery dead so I plunked a new one in just like I have for the last 35+ years. About a week later started getting a battery warning light come on. Went to the F150 forum and read that the computer needs to be reset, so either buy the special tool to do it, or make it an overnight ordeal where the truck sits for 8 hours with zero battery source so the computer can reset. Battery gets put on a charger and must be at full charge state when installed again. All this to gain an unmeasurable increase in mpg because the alternator is not charging 100% of the time

I had no idea Ford was in that club. It used to just be some of the fancy imports. Guess it's more common than I thought.

Got a Mob Armor cellphone mount setup.
Always thought high power magnets and electronics did not go well together, but this set up seems neat.

Got an Explorer King Ranch, that came with a wireless charger, but my old and new cellphones would not fit it. In my F150 I had a slot tray near the shifter where it fit. Decided to get a dedicated phone mount, and have the option to maybe record when driving. Kind of a neat setup. They have different colors for the mounts too.
