First gun was a Remington 241 Speedmaster .22LR, handed down to me from my father, who got it as a gift from my grandfather. Still have it, and will never part with it. First shotgun was a Winchester single-shot .410, a gift from my father to me and my brother (we had to share it). Still have it...and will never part with it either. ;)

The first gun I ever owned was an HSB & co single shot 20 ga that my grandfather had bought and hand checkered and carved my grandma's initials into the stock, and gave it to her as an anniversary gift I'm told. I got it when I was 16 for my 16Th birthday. Still haven't found out who HSB& co is, or if there is any such company in the United States. And yes I still have it.

First gun was a Mosin Nagant, as a 19yr old Lcpl from California being told by my friend that I could buy a rifle for $74 from the PX and have it in my hands within 5min. blew my mind. Within 15min from that conversation I had my first gun.

Don't have it still, I kept the rifle at said friends house and when he ETS'd I went to go get it from his place, but his wife said she couldn't find it. I assume that she probably packed it up with all his gear without thinking. C'est la vie.

M16A1....Well actually it was Uncle Sam's and he was kind enough to loan it to me. It was Nov. '81, Ft. Knox, Ky. It was bitter cold, raining, and I was knee deep in an ice water filled foxhole. I was barely 17 and though I knew everything but at that time I was thinking high school wasn't so bad after all. I've been hooked on shooting ever since.

A Springfeild semi auto .22 not sure of the model. My dad gave it to me and it is still at his house but only functions in single shot mode.

My first gun was a Savage Stevens .410 single shot break over shotgun. My dad bought it at a pawn shop for about 20 bucks when I was 11 or 12. The furniture was in awful shape, so I refinished it in a honey-blond stain. I still have it and it's still in good condition. I 'technically' gave it to my daughter, but it's still in my gun safe.

Rossi .22 cal. Bought it at Wal-Mart when you could still buy handguns at Wal-Mart. :) That was before Sam Walton died. :( Then his wife and children took over.

I was really lucky. On my 11th birthday, I was given the family gun collection which consised of a J Stevens Arms 22 marksman model serial number under 500 that was my Dad's. Also a Colt 1911 made in 1916 that Grandfather carried in WWI, Dad in WWII and later me in vietnam. I also received a Barretta .32 caliber what today would be the Tomcat. But the icing on the cake (to coin a phrase) was a pair for french pistols, one flintlock and one percusion made in the St. Etienne Arsonal in 1822.

Keep in mind this was the 50s and I was on a rifle team at the time. Later while still in High School I got an FFL for the princely sum of $2.00 American. With that I could buy and sell at 15 and record keeping was not as stringent as today. All it did was pay for my guns and ammo. Somehow I seem to have shot up the profits or bought personal guns with them which was why I got the license.

The Barretta and the frenchies along with several other rifles, pistols and shotguns were later stolen while I was in Viet Nam.
