You dont ever cheap out on tires. You get what you pay for. Michelin makes pretty good stuff
Anyone use Michelin LTX M/S2 HT tires? Trying to justify spending 225 per tire and an extra 10 per tire for install and 16 each for warranty on all 4.
thats the kind of answers i am looking forI put a set on my truck, 80,000 mi warranty and the ride is way better than the BFG's I had on there.
good to know, congrats on saving your deductible price lol. thanks for the information all.I honestly don't know how many miles I have on my set. I went with LT's to get some stability when towing our Toyhauler. I guess maybe 50k on them and they don't even look worn. One thing I can tell you, they are flat supernatural in rain. Them high priced tyres has saved my insurance deductible more than once.
When I was shopping, I went to NTB and got the price, they were tryin' to beat Discount's price with a $100 rebate. Then I took the price to Discount who gave me the NTB price AND their rebate.
im looking for a serious HT tire as I am beginning to hotshot. I heard good reviews about the Mich LTX MS/2 and they are warranted up to 70,000 miles - i figured i would ask around the TGT community because there is a good pool of opinions here to get ideas from.
I resisted them for decades, finally put a set LTX A/T2's on my Titan.
( pretty sure that's the model )
I will never buy anything else.
So you are beginning to HotShot with a SRW truck? Or are all four tires going on the rear of a dually?
I guess I am no help with the tires but I am curious about the HotShotting.
I don't think you always get what you pay for...BUT, it's a near certainty that you WON'T get something you DIDN'T pay for.
The OE Michelins on our Volvo C70 convertible have a decent ride; but are lousy for wet or dry traction. Won't likely last more than 30K miles and sell for north of $200 in a standard car 17" size. We had the same tires on the '08 C70 we traded with 28k miles and the tires had JUST enough tread for the dealer not to swap them out before re-selling.
For an LT--A/T tire, we liked the Pirelli Scorpion A/T, although they were a little loud. Wouldn't save much money as they are right at $200 per.
But that is the performance of a car tire. For some dang reason, the put really soft tires on cars. That they don't on trucks.
Michelin, in my opinion, makes the best highway truck tires you can get. I hate paying for them-but its worth it. Also, they have mail in rebates available this month.
As far as the rubber compounds go-softer is supposed to grip better on dry pavement for cars and bikes, but it also wears faster.
