Anyone use Michelin LTX M/S2 HT tires? Trying to justify spending 225 per tire and an extra 10 per tire for install and 16 each for warranty on all 4.

You dont ever cheap out on tires. You get what you pay for. Michelin makes pretty good stuff

I don't think you always get what you pay for...BUT, it's a near certainty that you WON'T get something you DIDN'T pay for. ;)
The OE Michelins on our Volvo C70 convertible have a decent ride; but are lousy for wet or dry traction. Won't likely last more than 30K miles and sell for north of $200 in a standard car 17" size. :( We had the same tires on the '08 C70 we traded with 28k miles and the tires had JUST enough tread for the dealer not to swap them out before re-selling.

For an LT--A/T tire, we liked the Pirelli Scorpion A/T, although they were a little loud. Wouldn't save much money as they are right at $200 per.

im looking for a serious HT tire as I am beginning to hotshot. I heard good reviews about the Mich LTX MS/2 and they are warranted up to 70,000 miles - i figured i would ask around the TGT community because there is a good pool of opinions here to get ideas from.

I run around 40, 000 miles a year. I run general grabbers. Smooth ride, very low noise and better fuel mileage.
Made in USA and a good price at discount tire. YMMV

I use sumitomo 315/35/17 on my car. They're decent for daily driving and last waaaaaay long compared to my front tires. Plus when they wear out I get to slip and slide around town if I am in a playful mood.

I put a set on my truck, 80,000 mi warranty and the ride is way better than the BFG's I had on there.

I honestly don't know how many miles I have on my set. I went with LT's to get some stability when towing our Toyhauler. I guess maybe 50k on them and they don't even look worn. One thing I can tell you, they are flat supernatural in rain. Them high priced tyres has saved my insurance deductible more than once.

When I was shopping, I went to NTB and got the price, they were tryin' to beat Discount's price with a $100 rebate. Then I took the price to Discount who gave me the NTB price AND their rebate.

I've been running the original ltx m/s tires for a few years. They're great for highway and off-road use. Im about to switch over to the m/s2 in a week or two.

So you are beginning to HotShot with a SRW truck? Or are all four tires going on the rear of a dually?

I guess I am no help with the tires but I am curious about the HotShotting.

not everyone hotshots in a dually. plenty of them run around town with a Ford Ranger.

But that is the performance of a car tire. For some dang reason, the put really soft tires on cars. That they don't on trucks.

I wouldn't want a soft tire on a car. Even worse wet or dry traction. I'm not terribly impressed with Michelin for car tires, but their truck tires are supposed to be good.

Michelin, in my opinion, makes the best highway truck tires you can get. I hate paying for them-but its worth it. Also, they have mail in rebates available this month.

As far as the rubber compounds go-softer is supposed to grip better on dry pavement for cars and bikes, but it also wears faster.

It does tend to grip better. I usually end up with tires that have a lower tread wear rating in the quest for a little grippier tire and wind up paying more for tires more often. Worth it IMO.

(Lee.. HI PARD !! glad to be on the site, you're right it looks like a lot of good folks here) ..

by the way on the Michelin LTX's.. Put a set of four on an 05 duramax, and ran them hard for 40K.. a LOT of tread maybe 40% left..
