Welcome aboard! I live up here in your neck of the woods as well (Guilbeau/1604). I am fairly new on here but not to guns. Let me know if I can help you at all.

That's good ... I guess. But if you were born in America how can you be Mexican-American?

Multiple Latin American countries recognize dual citizenship.. Since his parents are Mexican he can ask for Mexican citizenship. Similar to a new born, with both parents being American, he could be claim as an American citizenship and have the citizenship from the country he was born.

Welcome! Some friendly advice, stay away from Texas Thunder if at all possible. I'm in your area as well and would be happy to give you some pointers or advice if you need it.

Great, you must be very close to where I live.

I get that a lot. My race is Mexican, my nationality is American. Those two things will never change, having someone tell me I'm not Mexican is worse than someone telling you that they are taking your firearms and all rights to ever have them again. It's about family, culture, pride and history. Just ask most people that come from Irish or Italian decent, they usually get it.

I'd have to agree with that. I sold him an M1 Tanker Garand, he beat the price down as much as he could, then when I was walking out, he upped the offer. Then on my next visit he tried to beat me up about problems he had with it. I had no problems the entire 10-12 years I had it, He was just trying to squeeze more out of me. I haven't been back since.

Sorry but my understanding of this little ball we call earth is that "Mexican" is no more a race than is "American". My point is not to get into an internet fight with you but rather point some things out. I have no desire to deny you your heritage any more than you should deny my heritage. But I am not Scotch-Irish-Indian-American. I am an American, PERIOD. Forget 1st, 2nd, etc. generation birth locations. To me it is like you are either male or female, there's no in between, screw transgender freaks. And don't hide behind 'but I am pro 2nd Amendment'. If you don't honor the US Constitution in its entirety, you do not rank as an American in my book.

He was born in the USA, what are you struggling with?

My family is from Jalisco. I'm first generation, but dual citizenship
    See above.

I take no offense to him referring to himself as Mexican. My wife is Mexican. She doesn't consider herself Mexican American but if you were to ask her what ethnicity she is, she would say Mexican. I don't see what the big deal is.

There's not a big deal, other than someone going off on a pet peeve. Glockster....we're buds, right? One friend to another - you need to chill on this, bud, IMO. Some time when ya'll are face-to-face, have at it - talk to each other and hash it out. The man is new here, he has mentioned something in passing - and you're gettin' all commando.

Personally, I think you owe the man an apology.

I'll add my two cents here.

    Born here in Abilene.

Like a few others here, my heritage is Mexican. Is that what I consider myself only? Hell no.

I'm an American first with Mexican heritage second.

Am I ashamed of my heritage because I don't say I'm Mexican? Not at all. I just identify with my natural country FIRST.

    'Murica.
