I was late for school, driving in listening to the radio, which I rarely did. At first I thought, wow ... what kind of idiot misses a building that large, and why was a plane that low. Then the second tower got hit, and the tone of the reports changed. There's no way that happens twice. The rest of the day we were discussing it, and all of us being 17 - 18, the draft and war were a big topic. Alot of people were scared, and pretty much all of the classes were canceled.

I was in the lab working & listening to the radio, when I heard the first report. Later on, someone in the building pulled out a TV from one of the conference rooms and we saw the the towers as they collapsed. Sad day.

I was standing by the door with a lot of people and someone said that a plane hit one of the world trade building and I was thinking accident. Then when I got to class the teacher said that the second tower had been hit, and the first thing that popped into my 15 year old head was "we're being attacked". That is the first time that I ever felt the fear of an attack on my county.

I was at work and my first thought was "I knew sooner or later a pilot out of JFK would have a stoke and crash one in the middle of NYC"
A few minutes later we knew that was wrong after the second plane hit.

Junior year of high school, just trying not to fall asleep in World Religions. At first thought it was a joke, or some idiot in a Cessna or something. Then I heard the second reports, and it was just completely sureal for the rest of the day. No classes were canceled, nor was football practice. Our coach had a pretty "flowery" reason why.

Living in Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn at the time, right across the street from Brooklyn Marine Park. Step-son and I were watching his morning cartoons while waiting on my girlfriends dad (I worked with him as an electrician's helper), my girlfriend was 7 months preggers with my son. The T.V. station went out and started flipping through channels and the only one still on air was channel 2. They were talking about the first plane hitting, and I saw the other plane flying across the screen, and turned and looked at Jodi and commented on how this wasnt an accident, it was an attack. Then it hit...

Her dad showed up and commented on all the smoke in the sky, and I told him about the attack. Him and I ponied up and took off to Queens on the Belt Parkway, and mind you, there are thousands of cars on the Belt at this time of the morning. We were the only car... When we got to the draw bridge it was blocked off by police cruisers, so we had to take Pennsylvania Ave up a ways. There were cars, just left of the road, doors open, people hanging outside of all of the shops watching the news. It seemed like we were the only car moving...

We finally made our way to north Brooklyn and we were literally right across the river from the WTC. We havent even parked the car and the first one started coming down. The debris cloud started across the river and we had to move. We moved up a dozen long blocks, and stood there watching. Mind you, Newt was a firefighter back in the 70's, so alot of the old timers were there in the midst of action, alot of his friends were there. Alot of his buddies died that day.

But, shortly before the last tower came down, you could see the people jumping out of the tower and a few seconds later, hear them from across the river hitting the ground. To this day, I can hear that sound in my sleep, like a faint .22 report. Then the North Tower came down......

We started back to my house, and as we were coming into the neighborhood, there were papers literally snowing from the sky. There were kids and parents out there catching them out of the air. Right before I walked into the door, there was a check fluttering about and I grabbed, and it was an uncashed check for $150,000 from one of the companies in the North Tower.

For a week after that, there was a dusting of ash and soot on the cars. The first day was the worst, with a very thick powdering. Washing your car was frivilous, because the next day it was the same thing.

What really sucks about this all, was that Sunday before the attack, we were in Manhattan at the Fireman's Museum, and we were supposed to go out on the fire boats in the Harbor and see the Statue of Liberty. I started feeling ill, so Jodi started to take me home. As we were driving past the Twin Towers, I asked her to stop so that I could take a picture of them. She says..."Dont worry Brad, they'll be here next weekend..." Tuesday... They were on the ground...

I was on my way across the overpass into the 21 Area of Camp Pendleton when the first plane hit, when the second hit I was pulling into the parking lot of the barracks. Twenty minutes later I was sent home to ensure that my bags were packed along with 29 other Marines on the RDF/OPP.

I was working out in a pallet yard on a forklift which had a radio on it. As soon as it happened I went inside and we watched the horror live on tv. I'll never forget.

At the risk of TMI, I was involved in an intimate activity with my "better half" and had the TV on in my bedroom. When it came across the news, I immediately said OMG, and my wife misinterpreted the meaning of what I meant....

I woke up in a hotel in El Paso just in time to see the second plane hit. My parts were flown to me early that morning. I picked them up at the airport and could tell that the place was a mad house. They were barracading the doors at El Paso City Hall when I arrived. My contact had to get the police to let me in. I made my repairs on their emergency power equipment in about 15 minutes. I went back to the airport and changed my car rental from local to "one way". The airport was deserted by then and the rental lot was completely empty.

I drove the 630 miles back to Mesquite. My wife was 8 months pregnant with our 3rd son. I was only pulled over once in West Texas, but he let me off with a warning.

I was driving the ambulance to the office when my mom called me and told me a plane crashed. I said "in the county" she told me no, into the world trade center, I was glued to the TV and news the rest of the day. I spent the next few hours trying to get hold of my dad who was a commercial airline pilot trying to see if he was in the air that day, as it turns out he was not. I knew from the moment my mom told me it was an attack. America will never falter, and America will never forget

I was at morning brief working for City of Arlington. Other officers came in and told us the first tower got hit, we all crowded into the break room and watched the second tower get hit...went on patrol like any other day.

Was at the firehouse working and thought the same thing. A freak crash but the we watched the 2nd one hit live and we new we were being attacked. I can remember being happy I was a gun owner. Dont ask me why as what was my gun going to do. I think I was just pissed and was glad I could defend myself. Its one of those true blooded american feelings ya know!

I was at my desk at work when the news came over the radio that a plane had hit the WTC. Thought at first it was a horrible accident, then the news of the second hit came and we knew it was an attack.

Spent the rest of the day watching the coverage and being thankful that my wife had cancelled her business trip, she was to have been on a flight to Washington D.C. that morning.

I had just gotten back to my tent on Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait, I had just turned the TV on and saw a plane hit the second tower, thinking it looked like a good movie. Then Bryant Gumble came on and I realized it wasn't a movie. Soon after reports of the Pentagon attack and the Flight 93 crash came on. Then the sirens started going off, and it was back to the Patriot site I went, Guards were issued full combat loads, instead of the normal 2 magazines. I remember watching the towers fall thinking, whoever did this is a dead man. Little did I know 8 years later we would still be searching for the SOB. Personally I think we should turn the whole region into a sheet of glass, and send Exxon in with radiation suits to restart the oil pumps. Just my 2 cents.
