Wow! Lots of animosity towards the TEA Party here. I don't know why none of the national TEA Party groups supported Dave Brat, perhaps they don't have the money (am I the only TGT member that donates to the TEA Party on a regular basis?), maybe they didn't want to use up scant resources on a campaign they didn't expect Brat to win. It's all conjecture at this point which an anti-TEA Party media is still braying about, and will be for some time. However, I like Dave Brat's comment about his win, "Dollars don't vote, people do." and it looks like a lot of TEA Party members manned phones, knocked on doors, passed out flyers, and voted for Mr. Brat but maybe some of you want to win elections the good ol' fashioned GOP way....spend lots of money and call your opponent names.

Its not necessarily that they didnt pump millions into his campaign but they did nothing to advocate for him then claim it as a tea party win. The tea psrty organization had nothing to do with it like the tpnn would have you believe. It was the tea party minded folks like you said that got the win for him.

    You're missing the point entirely.

Saying the TEA party is grass roots now is like calling Avril Lavigne real punk rock. It's a commercialized version hijacked by the establishment.

Exactly. Allowed to be defined by the MSM. Instead, the true Tea Party voters refuse to be defined by the media but rather through their votes.

I think this 2010 Gallup poll, which was widely ignored or lambasted by the media, shows the truth.

    http://m.newsbusters.org/blogs/jeff...e-demographics-ignores-gallup-poll-showing-nu

Sapper, I can't understand why you continue to instist that the Tea Party membership be defined solely on the cards in their wallets instead of their votes. I also can't understand why you feel the need to donate funds to a shill national organization which claims to represent the Tea Party as a whole nationally when no such organization exists excepting a few 501c3s that exist to take your money, put you on a list of suckers they can milk for more donations and give you a card you can carry in your wallet in return. Do this; examine the flow of funds through the organization you donate to. Be your own investigative reporter and see for yourself how many pennies,if any, out of every dollar you donate actually goes towards furthering the platform as opposed to the quarters and dimes that go to "fund the operation" of the organization.

I think you'll find yourself surprised.

While I don't espouse snapper's characterizations of the tea party, and while I do agree there are a lot of pundits (i guess I'll call them that) trying to claim the tea party movement as their own concoction.

I do think the Tea party movement is pretty dang grass roots... It's highly factioned. A group here and a group there.

It's not a political party. Just a buncha normal people fed up with government...

The complete lack of support the Tea Party gave Mr. Brat is why I will never join. Perhaps you should consider tossing your card in the trash, as the Tea Party was more than happy to let RINO Cantor win again.

Bullshit. I take it you were never in Virginia during the campaign?

The brilliance of Brat's campaign was that he walked door to door in his district and asked voters what busted their nuts.

Brat used that information to build his stump speech. He focused on the economy (he's an economist), national security, jobs, and opposition to amnesty.

That resonated with more informed voters in a heavily Republican district.

Cantor lost because he took for granted that he was an incumbent.

Insurgent campaigns all over the United States will be strengthened by Brat's win.

    I like this.

    and, yes, hopefully.

Eat your own bullshit. You take it wrong on both counts.

Just one account of the lack of support:

Tea Party groups that offered Dave Brat zero support sure are thrilled he defeated Eric Cantor

They were also all over FoxNews offering excuse was they gave him $0 money and support, specifically Jenny Beth Martin.

I haven't heard why the TEA Party didn't support Brat, perhaps it's because he refused to fill out the NRA's questionnaire? Cantor Snags NRA Endorsement as Brat Dodges | JHPolitics What was the reason they gave? The NRA did however, support Eric Cantor despite allusions to his being no friend of the 2nd Amendment from no less than one of his former workers. (see here: from the same website posted by Curt Diemer 12 days ago
I worked for Cantor for 10 years. I supported him in many elections. I have a concealed cary permit and have for years. I trust the Virginia Citizens Defense League on local issues. For years they have protested Cantor at the Republican Roundup event I photographed at Innsbrook. It bothered me that I always had to leave my sidearm at home because Eric chose to hold this western styled event in a gun free zone. Of course he was allowed to have his armed guards there to protect him and his family but I was denied the same right. Eventually I had enough of this hypocracy and quit. This issue was at the top of list as to why. I am supporting David Brat.

And lastly; O.K., so the TEA Party didn't support Dave Brat but are happy that he beat Eric Cantor....so what? Organizations that don't support a particular candidate aren't allowed to be happy that they won anyway? I'm not sure what point you're trying to make other than to show that you don't like the TEA Party. We get it, you don't but you still haven't espoused a substantive reason for your prejudice.

Something for all you TEA Party haters to consider: If it wasn't for the TEA Party, David Dewhurst would be one of our Senators. That right there should make TEA party lovers out of all of you.

I don't know what y'all are referring to when y'all say the Tea Party? Do you mean a national entity? I saw plenty of VA-7 local Tea Parties out and about for Brat. I had a couple friends who were tied up in TP stuff that did campaigning for him.

This is how the Tea Party is supposed to work. Decentralized, grassroots campaigning. The idea of a national Tea Party is ridiculous. That's just another way for another group to become corrupted. I liked what I saw in Virginia. Each County/metropolis had their own Party. They did stuff locally. That's the definition of grassroots; Leave the national crap out.

    Who's Avril Lavigne?
You are probably better off not knowing - but, since you asked, she was an homogenized, mainstreamed version of a tomboyish punk rocker foisted off on gullible youth as edgy. She had a big hit album when she was 17.

Now she's a mature 29, on her second marriage, and every time she appears in a new video dressed up like a teenager and singing songs about immature teenage angst, she comes off as, well, simultaneously sad and mildly ridiculous.

Just googled her, she's French-Canadian. No wonder I've never heard of her, I do my best to remain blissfully unapprised of the goings-on of those idiots.

We need to fight the liberals tooth and nail. They will call us names on CNN propaganda. But don't let them shut you down. This borgdal deal is something we all need to hold their feet to the fire on. We have to whoop some ass in November then rally behind a true conservative like Cruz for 16. This will be our last chance. They have the media. We may still have the constitution and law. They want to take that away. If they grant amnesty to the illegal aliens our republic is history.

PS keep your rifles clean and mags loaded.

LOL - Ben was right. If you don't already know who she is then you are truly blessed!

Don't get me wrong on the Tea party. I wholeheartedly support the concept as originally intended. I just get hacked off with them when you have people like Palin and others trying to hijack the cause and others just trying to make $$ off it.

The entire point was for it all to be local and focused on small government and lower taxes. When you start throwing in social issues and expanding the intent it starts becoming Republican Party II instead of the broad coalition and limited platform it was intended to be.
