That's a lot of change. If you gonna go .45-70 lever action. I think I am going to set up a change jar

That’s a really nice idea, but for that price you could buy a lever action rifle in all 3 of the calibers it shoots, scope them, and have chage left over.If you gonna go .45-70 lever action. I think I am going to set up a change jar

I'm 37 6'4" and 214lbs. I'm recoil sensitive alsoI bought a Ruger American ranch in 762x39 for my small framed preteen son. He is recoil sensitive ( takes after his mother ) and I wanted something that would take a deer.
I also liked the idea of some cheap Russian steal cased ammo for plinking and practice.
It's fun to shoot with great accuracy. Short and light for my son, with minimal recoil.

I get that recoil sensitivity isnt exclusive to size or age. My concern with my son is I'm trying to teach him and I want him to enjoy shooting.I'm 37 6'4" and 214lbs. I'm recoil sensitive also
I relate to this very much. I use to have shooter anxiety real bad. The silence before the boom and kick would eat me up. Suppressors have helped tremendously. They take out the "boom" and help ease recoil. Brakes are great for recoil reduction. But good Lord they get LOUD.I get that recoil sensitivity isnt exclusive to size or age. He has been shooting 22lr and enjoys that.
He can handle my TC contender setup as a rifle in .223
22-250 not as much.
I dont think it is just recoil he is struggling with
It's noise, he has always hated loud noises as a child.
Also the fact that most rifles are heavy and awkward in his small hands which leads to bad recoil.

Cool that your getting to share shooting with your Son. It's a great way to spend time with them.
Sticks and stonesShoot my 45-70 a few times and it will take all that out of you. After that not much bothers you anymore.
ETA: I decided not to call you a word usually associated with a lady part, or a cat, or a willow since you’re giving me that ammo.
Awesome! Good shooting. Smile says it allMy son shot his Ruger ranch 762x39 this morning

I got it, thanks. That brake work out?
You won't have any regrets!I got it, thanks.
Screwed it on and checked it out, looks like it's going to work great.
Need to add a crush washer to my cart at Midway or Brownells.
My son had push in ear protection and those basspro electronic ears to handle that rifle.
While at the range a guy pulled in with a Remington 700 chambered in 300 Remington ultra mag. He threaded a suppressor on and shot away. It was amazing.
I guess I'll be getting my NFA trust notarized this week and get in getting in line for a tax stamp.
