How danged cool is this? My question is what is the firing pin on the M79 doing to tap all 10 .22 rounds?
It uses a large pistol primer to actuate a piston that hits all the primers at once.
Looks like this. This one was posted on another forum after being trimmed to 37mm to fit in a registered DD. The round subsequently failed at the threads. But you can see the plate that keeps the 22lr in place, and the tiny pins and pin holes through it that fire off the 22lr rounds. Load pistol primer in base after disassembly, load 22lr, screw it all together, and let er rip in your registered DD.
