I personally only buy Tripp cobra mags. Others only buy Wilson mags.
I had to toss a Chip McCormick power mag recently after the company didn't want to replace it in full, and only changed the internals. I still had issues... Those are not cheap either... Dont cheap out on the mags if ya want the gun to work...
Yea. If a gun fails chances are it's the mag. I have seen $1500 1911s fail and the owners blame the gun untill you swap out with a good mag and the gun magically works. Then the owner thinks because they spent so much on the gun they should be able to run crap mags in it. Sorry it just does not work that way.
I buy Chip McCormick, they always work great for me. However, now and then I'll see a pile of mixed mags at a shop or show and pick them up for a few dollars each, generally with the same results, and just toss the ones that induce failures.
I shot a bud's 1911 once, he was using cheap mags and when I loaded one into the pistol the bottom plate broke off and dumped all seven rounds onto the table. I wouldn't want that to happen if I were in a home defense situation.
