Fail. 300 Blackout Rem 700 AAC-SD not ejecting.

I have a very new, 2 months, Remington 700 AAC-SD 300 Blackout, the grey 16.5" Houge model. Bought new.

It extracts fine from the chamber. The extractor appears ordinary.

As the tip of the spent case clears the ejection port it just falls free into the upcoming round.

The ejection plunger seems to have free movement and normal spring force.
It just hasn't enough oomph/energy to be tossed to the right and out.

Unless I tilt the whole rifle 45-90 degrees to the right the round just obstructs the function.

It did it occasionally at first.
    Now 50% at least.

Wondering if the extractor isn't holding the casing closely enough to the bolt face or what.

The very short 300BLK casing is awfully short even for the short 700 action.

Short of asking for a refund or sending it in to remington is there anything I can mess with or tweak.

I'm a tinkerer but have not punched out the ejection plunger roll pin or ordered a new extractor.

    Not much else to "adjust".

Anybody have suggestions or similar firearm foibles???

    Yes.

Pulled back at an exaggerated fast speed it will reliably eject.

At a normal bolt retraction speed it drops the round inside the ejection port most of the time.
    Unacceptable.

    At a brisk faster-than-usual it's 50/50.

    something not right.

Pain in the butt but I may send it back to the factory for warranty service.
Remington 700s are ubuquitous. Reliable. Economical.

    I may have a lemon.

Remington's quality control has slipped over the years.

You could have some junk stuck behind the extractor though. Just enough that it is letting go too soon.

Sounds like the ejector plunger is hanging up or has a weak spring. You say your friend's .223 bolt ejects fine. compare the ejectors tension with the bolts out of the rifles.

    Fixed the problem.

Drove down to Adelbridge firearms in San Antonio where I got it to get it sent in for warranty fix.

Jonathan the owner is an honorable guy and pleasure to deal with.
He gladly offered to send it in for me.

Whilst browsing I spotted a pistol I desired.
He credited me 100% of my original purchase price toward the used pistol that was already a very fair price.

I left a few dollars poorer with pistol in hand a happy guy.
    Service there above and beyond!

Already shot the new one, a FNP-45-Tactical, in the back yard.
On thorough inspection is appeared unfired, though sold as used with all the little stuff in the Cordura case.
And the next hour I mounted a Trijicon RMR I had in a drawer.

    Thanks all.

    Next:
To get another 300 BLK bolt gun.

Anybody have any experience with the Ruger???

    hill co.
The handi rifles are pretty nice. I have a handi and an AR, still may get a bolt gun if Savage ever gets off their ass.

Wouldn't get rid of either that I still have though.

I have the Ruger. Was gonna post a thread after I get the load for it figured out.

    It's pretty quiet.

    Reviews say sub-MOA Ruger.
    Lotta match .308.
Seems to me 300BLK ammo is lesser accuracy quality.

Great price point on the American.

    I want one.

My 9" AAC AR upper is way quiet, reliable, so-so accurate 2-4" moa though the optic could be finer,

    Let us know.
