Long shot but just looking for a box or two to bring to the range tomorrow rather than wait for bulk stuff to ship, anyone know of a local shop that stocks any? Prefer north side of Austin Round Rock/Cedar Park/Georgetown area but willing to drive a little more if needed.

Sorry, it was a joke. I’ve never seen 45-70 in supersonic, pretty sure it’s all subsonic. Figured the way you mentioned it, I’d make a little fun of it.
Weird. I've only seen supersonic ammo

nah, 300 and 325 grain go super. 405 and higher generally sub depending on loading.

You have a 45-70 and don’t load custom rounds for your gun?
I have a lot of stuff that lends well to reloading but nope, never got into reloading at all. Maybe some day but so far there just hasn't been an attraction to it for me.

Subsonic 458 500 grain rounds are cool.

It’s easy to get 45-70 round supersonic.

Those in the pictures above are 500 Grain Maker Rex bullets specifically for subsonic but even my 458 Socom SBR can get them supersonic so a 45-70 would have no problem getting traditional rounds there. If anything 45-70 subsonic would seem odd to me.

Isn't it pretty to think so.

The 45-70 was designed to replace the 50-70 in Trapdoor and Rolling Block rifles. Today's full house loads would scatter those. Most Government BP loads were well over 1200 FPS. Cracked.jpg
