    Guys...

Here's the deal. I've managed to locate one of his nieces, who will pass on the offer to him. I offered him the .22, or anything else he'd rather have - his choice. I offered the Henry because the man obviously understands shot placement, and it may be the best choice for him based on noise/recoil/personal choice. I frankly don't care - I'll send him a freakin' 7mm mag if that's what he wants.

The gun...that's from me an' Schoolmarm. Nothing personal - it's just that it was "my idea", and I don't expect the rest of you to have to pay for my largesse. If he accepts it an' ya'll want it engraved, you can pitch in for that an' the shipping - fair enough? Hell....I've got time off comin' - if he accepts I may just deliver the damned thing!

Hey man, that's more than generous of you. Yup, let us pay for the engraving AND shipping... it's the least we can do. I think everyone would agree.

Heck I'm in also. If TRN has the rifle and we all donate $ then we can have it engraved, shipped and buy the man some ammo to go along with the new rifle. Tell me where to send it.

the criminals went over the county line then called the sheriff with a BS story. what is this the Dukes of hazard where if you make it over the county line the cops wont come after you ?

Maybe they thought so. And a huge High 5 to Earl Jones for removing another piece of scum off the streets. Now, if the damn police would finish their stupidity and return this man's rifle to him, the story would be complete.

Thank God for the Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground laws!

For now, let's hold off until I see whether the man wants/needs it. To this point, I've heard nothing further, so it may well be that he's already gotten it taken care of.

I can't say why, but the story itself touched me - which is why I jumped like I did. It remains to be seen whether he's going to need a gun from someone - it may well be that he went from the interview to a LGS and picked something up already - or that the locals have already armed him better'n a Ft. Knox division!

Will keep ya'll posted if/when I hear anything further. Until then, just hold on, please - do NOT send ANY funds until I even know that they'll be needed/wanted!

Pilgrim, thanks for the heads up. I forwarded your PM to Alan, just to make sure there's no legal issues in the way (I can't see why there would be, since this isn't a raffle or anything).

That is a humbling offer TRN!
