I’ve never shot any factory 10 mm ammo over my chrono, so I don’t know if it’s true or not, but I’ve been told that one brand (I think it was WWB) has slower velocity on their 10mm than their .40.

Just compare the "fps" of off the shelf stuff, vs something full power like Buffalo Bore, or Underwood.

You should be able to find them online.

I was curious so I looked online at WWB. They list their 180 .grain .40SW at 990 fps and their 180 grain 10mm at 1080.

    REM 45 Colt ammo 50 for $65.

Geeeeezzzz. Glad I load for that round.

On the other hand, I saw price reductions for 9, 40 and 380.

1250 on box. I got similar readings with DW Bruin several years ago. This was FMJ, I never got reading with HP.

    i chrono’d some underwood 200grn JHP at 1275-1247-1260
    4.5” bbl all steel commander

Is off the shelf 10mm underpowered for a reason? I recall frames on Delta Elites getting fractures from 10mm back in the day.

Most 10mm loads were loads from the big 3 are loaded to the FBI Spec which was 180 gr at 1000 fps, they later used a Federal Bonded 190 at about 950.

The original full power loads were fine in the 1076s, which were designed for it, but not on all the shooters, especially the smaller ones, hence the lighter loads which became almost an industry standard in the 10mm.

The original Norma stuff brewed up for the Bren 10 and Col Cooper was hot, 170 JHP at 1300 fps and a 200 TMJ (truncated cone that cooper liked) at 1175 I think. This stuff is what killed the early Deltas even with their heavier recoil springs.

5 inch non ramped 1911s in 10mm get beat to crap with full power 10s regardless of the recoil spings. Most of your custom smiths want a ramped heavy 5 inch or a long slide if you planned to shoot alot of full power stuff.

Buffalo Bore, Underwood and Double Tap all offer full power stuff, the WInchester 175 Silver Tip and 180 Defender are also full power stuff.
