Had an ex roommate who worked off shore.
    Worked out well for me.
    He worked 2 weeks on/off.
Had the place to myself for 2 weeks out of the month, and got to drive his vette, too....

    ZX9RCAM,
Understood. = My Uncle Jimmy G_________ (long deceased) spent over 2 decades as an UNDERWATER WELDER for PPL in 1965-80s period. ======> The stories he told about "being way down there" would "curl your hair" BUT he made BIG bucks at 2 weeks out on an offshore rig & 3 weeks off. - Oddly, he died in his sleep at home in 1988.
(My 1st cousin William Wayne "Little Will" B________ got killed "under mysterious circumstances", that nobody in the family fully understood, in 1984 while a tool-pusher on a BP offshore rig. Also, my Uncle Larry E_________ got 100% disabled & spent his last years in a wheelchair from an accident on a Gulf Oil rig "off south LA" in 1976.)

    yours, satx

My dad was 4 when that Beatles concert happened in 65

I was going to make a comment about how young you must be, then I remembered my baby girl turned 30 this year, so I have to consider the possibility that I'm more old than you are young.

I'm still not sure when exactly that happened. It seems like I was young and single just a couple of years ago. That means enjoy your youth while you can. It will be gone before you know it.

    F350-6,

LUCKY YOU. Fyi, my adopted daughter, Noemi, turned 46YY on 18MAR19, so I must be "OLD-OLD".
(Some days, I feel about 122, rather than 72. = FACT.)

As Bette Davis opined, "Old age ain't no place for sissies."

    easy rider,

Which job did you have on the rig??
(My one experience was in college, in the Summer. = I was a WORM.= That 90 days convinced me that I did NOT want to work rigs in the oil patch. My business partner, Ken & I then opened Petroleum Protection Inc. to patrol/protect the property.)

    yours, satx
Never worked on an oil rig, but I have worked a few oilers.

Most are probably chased off for having other beliefs than the old fashioned conservative mind. I have been chastised here several times, because I'm not religious. God forbid me if my morals and ethics aren't enough to get me through life without sin.
    Are you from southern la?

Thing is, it really doesn't seem that long ago I was his age, and karma is a bitch.

Take it easy, Easy! I feel like I was a freshman in high school last week. Karma is definitely a bitch. I’ll blink again and have kids my age. It’s happens
