Ak47 muzzle threads turned off

Strangely, bought an ak rpm maadi from internet--photos showed the tacked on thread cap so bought an ak74 type muzzle brake before delivery. Removed the muzzle cap and found turned down threads??? Why put the cap on it. If known, i would not have bought it !!!

Turn it 1/2"-28, the same as an AR-15. Somebody was making a special flash hider specifically for this combination.

They did that during the ban years. Not all are turned down though. I will tell you that my Intrac has intact threads.

Does the front sight need to be removed? Any one in the austin area do this modification?

EDIT, what I would do would be to press/pin on a sleeve and then turn/thread that to 5/8 X 24 so you can mount off the shelf .308 accessories on it.
