Ammo report for Killeen, TX. I went looking for .45, .380, and 9mm this morning:

Wal-Mart (Killeen)- plenty of 9mm ammo. NO .45 and NO .380 (of course)
Wal-Mart (Harker Heights)- some 9mm ammo. NO .45 or .380
Academy Sports (Killeen)- plenty of 9mm and 6 x boxes of Hornady Personal Defense .45 ammo (20 rds for $26)
Dicks Sporting Goods (Harker Heights)- some 9mm ammo. NO .45 or .380

Guns Galore (Killeen)- everything! Of course their ammo is TWICE what you would pay anywhere else. That is what you get for going to a gun store. I bought a box of PMC Bronze FMJ 230gr .45 (50) for$26.99. They had all types of .45 and 3 types of .380. Winchester White Box (100) was $47.

This is what I get for buying a .45 and a .380 last week. Well, there is plenty to be had online...but I wanted to shot a couple mags before sending my XD to Gilberts for TruGlos.

    Hope this helps someone....

Midway takes backorders on 380 pistol ammo. If you are patient, say 4+ months, you will get an email that tells you the order is being filled. Prices are reasonable in the current market.

45ACP is available in WalMart a mile from my home. A nearby Academy has it too.

Ammo report for Wal-Mart in Deridder, LA on 22MAR10:

.45 ACP- 3 x 100rd WWB BOUGHT by me! (they only had three boxes)
    .45 ACP- 10 x 50rd Remington FMJ boxes
    .40/.9mm- plenty on hand
    .380---yeah right!!!

I am visiting JRTC (FT Polk, LA) for a week of training, the Wal-Mart is right next to my hotel. Stopped by for some food...walked over to ammo counter and my eyes almost fell out. The 100rd WWB were $36 each and the 50rd .45ACP Remington was $19 a box. They had all FMJ- no personal defense/HD ammo. A couple dozen 9mm/.38/.40 Remington boxes of ammo and plenty of .25.

Hope this helps....for those who live in the middle of nowheresville, LA!!!

    Some good finds !

I've gotten fed up with hunting for my needs and wasting gas. These days I'm doing most of my buying online. Buying out of state saves on tax and almost negates the shipping cost.
