At about 2:15 pm local time, some fruit-loop in a truck rented from Home Depot turned off a street and onto a bicycle trail, running over bicyclists in the lane. After having his path cut off by a right-thinking person driving an empty school bus, the attacker exited the rented truck with (what was later determined to be) a BB gun and a paint-pellet gun. Some witnesses say he uttered "allahu akbar" upon exiting. Fifteen persons reported injured, 6 reported fatally injured.
