Luckily my house is set up so my sons room is right down the hall from mine, and I also have two dogs that get let out of thier cage on the way out of my room anytime I hear something. So it's always, grab the gun, let the dogs out, make sure my son is safe and his room is secure, and then pay attention to the dogs as I'm going through the house.
