Another new cartridge released- 400 Legend

Winchester dropped another new straight wall AR15 compatible cartridge today.
I give you the 40 caliber 400 Legend.

Based on the 6.8 SPC case, it drives a 215 grain pill to 2250 fps.

First results actually look extremely impressive. Albeit this was not with factory loads.

LOL ,I am 73 and cutting my collection to the bone! First criteria was to minimize the number of calibers, or at least the number of bullet sizes (kept 308 and 300 BO) kept 357 and 9mm (I plink 125 gr 9mm bullets out of my Ruger Blackout 357, I bought an ammo can of 9mm Bergmann pulled bullets back in 1970 and still shoot them)
current keep list .22 -9mm- 357-45 acp 308 -20 ga 41 Swiss, 50 muzzle loader 5.56 and 300 bo (10 total calibers)
still left to sell 8mm 16 ga 25-20, 32-20, 762x51

ETA, that seems like it would be a good hog gun.

But like others have said, not adding another caliber. Should also mention ammo will likely be very expensive, and little to no options for reloading. Cases non-existent, and I don't recall seeing any 200g+ bullets in 40cal.

.405 is Much more powerful than the 400L

A much closer comparison would be the 401WSL. It was a highly regarded round for all sorts of big game for many years.
I see a lot of potential for the 400L. Now whether it catches on or not is up to the often fickle ammo buying public.
