I was reading an article and had to verify the facts for myself. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, in 2011 there were over 1274 anti-government patriot groups. The numbers are growing. They put Oathkeepers among the groups as anti-government? In reading the 2nd article, many are concerned the govt will try and take their weapons. Isn't that happening as we speak with gun control laws, restrictions and current attempts to ban or prohibit them? I copied the list of groups they classify in Texas. Those with a * are considered a militia as well. This thread is not posted to create anti govt topics, but to show how they are classifying many of us as anti-govt for belonging to certain groups or organizations when in fact we are not anti-govt.

The number and the fact that it is growing should be enough to make government change....instead it puts us on a watch list. A better term for most of these groups is "Pro American."

The Constitution party? Seriously? And the Tenth Amendment Center? Really? What is it about liberals that makes them so scared of people who choose to think for themselves?

Looks like what they meant to say was "anti socialist groups growing".

They are making these lists and calling anyone who disagrees with them and "anti government group", luckily with the patriot act, NDAA, etc, already in place they can do whatever they want.

In having a little trouble organizing my thoughts this morning but throwing anyone who disagrees with them on a list and calling them anti government just seems like another step towards tyranny. Seems like something like this happened in some obscure country in the 1930s. I'm sure we'll be fine though:(

SPLC is an anti-government group. No, really.

They're not a credible source, which is very scary because the government will use them as a source.

All I know is that I am thanking them. They are giving me a good idea of groups of like minded people in my area that I may want to join.
Anybody on their list of bad groups are likely to be comprised of good people.
