The largest military base in the free world isn't that far north of Bastrop. There should be a bunch of French plates up around there.
It depends on what they're doing with them.
Camp Swift gets used for lots of different things now and it's also a staging area for a lot of emergency equipment. Think of it as a logistics hub for things beyond what the infantry uses.
They are probably trying to escape to here since it sucks in France.Like the French are going to invade Texas...
I see foreign plates all the time. How are these cars allowed on our roads? And most of them are not foreign citizens or diplomats.
Well besides the usual mexico tags i meant. How long is the limit for them to use those european tags here because it wasnt a few months. It is legal to bring a foreign-plated vehicle into this country and drive it. I drove on both German and Belgian tags when I first got here from those countries, and there are countless number of Mexican-tagged vehicles in Texas.
Nice. I never owned a vehicle and had it shipped oconus or conus from somewhere else. I know some germans and japanese would buy american cars from soldiers at a premium.Depends on if the owner is visiting or moving here. If the former, I don't think there is any length issues as long as the person is legally here and the vehicle is current in its home country. I know a lot of UK motorcyclists that shop their bikes over for months at a time to ride in the US.
As for someone that moves here, they have 30 days to register their vehicle. Of course, there's allowances for military personnel and individuals who duel residencies...
I was actually pulled over south of Brussels for a Florida tag on my motorcycle. The officer just wanted to check it out, as it was much smaller than Belgian plates. He was very friendly and even escorted me back onto the highway, after pulling a wheelie on his BMW K-series patrol bike....

Probably a Jade Helm leftover.
The French were not involved in JADE HELM. It consisted of U.S units only...
Good way to get a car here that isn't legal for importation. Have a friend come visit with their car and "abandon" it on your property when they go home. Then you can go through the process of getting a title. It is legal to bring a foreign-plated vehicle into this country and drive it.
