    Helotes!
APEX has been selling sets of BFPU furniture from the Balkans War, I got two (each with three sets in them, so six total) of the Romanian stuff a few months back and was very pleased with what I got; sow when I saw they were selling them for the Yugo AKs I decided to order a set to see what I'd get.

My order came in today, I was pretty happy with the three sets I got.

Two of the lower handguards had carvings in them, and one of the upper. The best of the lower has what I think is the name 'Adel' and a lightning bolt on it. Next to that it has again what I think is the name 'Paco' and what appears to be the crest of Bosnia. There are also some letters carved at the base of the handguard, they are not fully legible.

The second one has the word 'Fahrua' in it, don't know if that's a name or what. The third lower handguard has five straight lines on one side, no idea what significance if any that has.

The one upper handguard has 'Salko' carved in it.

I've not done any research on the words carved into the wood, so I can't tell you any more than what I've captured above.

    Here are some pics...

Some pieces were drowning in cosmoline, others barely had any on them. The pistol grips were all standard Yugo/Serb style, obviously used but nothing spectacular about 'em. I've got several that look exactly the same.

Two of the lower hanguards had obvious marks where the underfolding stock hit them, the third had no markings in that area. I know that if anyone puts these on a rifle, most likely it would be a M70AB2 but I am still contemplating putting a second set of these handguards on my M70B1 fixed stock as well.

For less then ten bucks per set (the three sets were $19.99 plus $9.99 shipping), you can't beat 'em! One of the upper handguards has a small crack in it, but it is still usable as are all the other pieces. Anyone building a BFPU M70 should snag some of these from APEX, there's not guarantee that they are all as good as what I got but they are a good representation of these rifles from the Balkans conflict!

    Cheers! M2
