After reading the great reviews here on TGT, I was looking forward to checking out Sons of Liberty Gun Works. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed at all.

First of all, in order to find it your first time you have to call because it's hidden behind Guadalupe Lumber. (A little help on the website would be nice.)

Nobody acknowledged me when I walked in but there was about 6-8 people milling around, some looking at rifles. A couple guys were wearing shirts with the shop logo on it. But overall I couldn't tell who were the customers and who were the employees.

The area that appeared to be the retail area contained mostly t-shirts and Magpul accessories.

The place appeared to be in general disarray and chaos.

The register/bar area was littered with beer cans and liquor bottles.

I think I saw one guy in the shop area working on something. I wanted to see some of their custom work but wasn't sure if that area was supposed to be accessible to customers.

I stood there trying to check it out, looking through the group of people standing between me and that area but wasn't offered any assistance.

Did I just show up on a bad day?

They had this t-shirt that I thought was funny:

Modern Elite Firearms has some of the Texas themed uppers and lowers from Aero Precision.

I picked up a set today.

The lower is $109 and the upper is $99.

I don't think he came across very well. I couldn't make it past 10 minutes. Additionally I know reports of pretty crappy CS lately.

I made my first purchase from the Gun Shack in Helotes today and it was a good experience.

I started off by contacting them via their website with some questions about their products.

    I received a prompt reply.

When I went into the store every employee that wasn't with a customer asked me if I needed help.

I liked the selection of AR parts they had. I saw some trigger parts and other items that would be handy to get for a build without having to wait on internet delivery.

They also had a large selection of stripped lowers that seemed reasonably priced.

I ended up buying a couple lowers.

Great experience. I will go back.
