    1) it will not stop the loss or theft.
    2) it will not stop bad guys from using the lost or stolen firearm.
    3) it is only useful if said firearm is ever recovered.

    where do I benefit?
    I've recovered a number of stolen firearms and a number that circumstances strongly suggested they were stolen, but no one had reported them...

    You benefit because you will get your firearm back and it gives LE tools for locking a theif up if they are found with serialized property that has been reported stolen.

    I wouldn't give anyone a list before, but if you have a gun stolen, report it
