I've been saying this for nearly three years now. Most of what is being blamed on a "labor shortage" is actually because of the failing economy and inflation. There's plenty of people out there looking for work. Retail and service stores that are shorthanded simply don't have the capital to keep up with inflation, and larger companies are posting jobs they never intend to fill in an effort to make it look like the company is still growing and try to placate the employees that still have.
Many people want to blame it on the r/antiwork social contagion and free shit army, but the rona handouts ended two years ago. The antiworkers are a minority and the most dedicated of them are homeless now (which is a whole other social contagion we're seeing).
With the Fed's dual mandate of controlling inflation and maintaining maximum employment, it would appear from the fake jobs numbers that the Fed has plenty of room to destroy even more capital to try to get inflation under control, but the truth is unemployment/underemployment is already high. I'm sure everyone here is already prepared, but the layoffs you're seeing are going to keep getting worse.
