First of all I believe your "20-50 bucks" is a high estimate in materials. Sure it may cost me that much, but then I don't buy in bulk. As far as employee benefits, just how long and how many people do you really think it takes to make one? I am very sure that it can be made and sold for well under the tax stamp it takes now to legally own it, we aren't talking an actual firearm as far as precision goes.Easy is only easy if you know what the hell you are doing and have the tools to do it.
Take someone that has never used a tape measure let alone calipers and let them loose on amazon to buy everything needed to make one so now your at a minimum of 1K<low in my opinion> inducing all tools and tooling. Now set him on Youtube for oh 20-40 hours to learn how to turn on a lathe and make it move.
Now another 20+hours researching sizes and tolerances. blah blah blah.
Now if its a company over a individual factor in employees, healthcare, liability insurance, rent, power, gas and the 100's of other costs of doing business.
Sure its only 20-50 bucks in time and material but thats the cheap part add in the ass load of over head and itar taxes
HehThere ya go, stirring up trouble, like always...
He can be a devious troublemaker. There ya go, stirring up trouble, like always...
It's permanently attached. It has to be or else the ATF would complain the can could be use on a centerfire rifle. Are you supposed to load it through the can or unscrew it for loading and then screw it back on?
...Ah yes, right to the heart of the matter.......else the ATF would complain....
It should work pretty well and for a very long time if you clean it. Cleaning black powder residue from stainless is easy if you use hot soapy water. You could make up a soaking/flushing tank out of some large diameter pvc pipe and a small electric pump.
You now those oil filter adapters?
It claims to reduce smoke by 2/3. To me it sounds like that's going to get the can dirty pretty quick.
I've seen those threaded cleaning oil/patch catchers before. Don't have any actual experience with them. How much do they actually muffle things? On par with a real suppressor?
For that matter, a pop bottle and tape works for at least one shot. There are many quick diy suppressors, but of course I would never do that ..... never!
My story and I'm sticking to it.
I've heard of someone (an actual criminal) using tennis balls. A pillow would also work, but that's a waste of a pillow.
KinkyI'm not a criminal, but I have, I mean I know of others that have used a variety of things, even using different fruits and vegetables.
The things youths with nothing better to do in a town (Vegas) that was geared more towards adults, can come up with.
Next time, stuff as large a piece of foam rubber as you can into the bottle. I've heard (from some guy on the internet) that it'll work of a few more rounds. For that matter, a pop bottle and tape works for at least one shot. Fear of a government agency.I guess it was just a matter of time for this to come. Silencers, suppressors, moderators, mufflers of whatever have been used on air rifles for a long time. They aren't firearms and neither are black powder muzzle loaders. The real question is what has taken so long?
