So many axis have gotten loose from exotic game ranches that I see more of them than whitetails any more. I have 5 bucks that hang around and this big boy occasionally sneaks into the yard until the dogs run him back over the fence. The second picture is a couple of months after the freeze back in 21. I am considering let people trap them just to pay the property taxes on the acreage that isn’t part of our homestead. I took the first picture from my truck - he didn’t even twitch when we drove out. Second one was from the porch.

    Out here by the lake!
The good news is axis is great eating & being an exotic no season. I got a buddy who might be interested in come out & culling one or two out if the price is right. He is working on the Atlantic coast & I'm not sure where he is on his 8 week hitch. He could do archery or rifle.
