The container ship that crashed into a Baltimore bridge on Tuesday "lost propulsion" as it was leaving port, and crew on board notified Maryland officials they had lost control of the vessel, ABC News reported, citing an unclassified U.S. intelligence report.

"The vessel notified MD Department of Transportation (MDOT) that they had lost control of the vessel and an collision with the bridge was possible," ABC quoted the report by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency as saying. "The vessel struck the bridge causing a complete collapse.

How do you help cripple the economy of a country?

Use the Chinese "how to cripple a country" play book

Get one of the largest container ships in the world
load it with over 9,000 full containers
put a lot of bad people on the ship
sail into one of the busies ports in the country
as you near one of the main bridges, fake having mechanical issues
steer the ship towards a support pillar and ram it.
Make it look like an accident.

Its not inconsistent with the PLA's "Unrestricted Warfare" doctrine. Sure, if Taiwan kicks off, the Navy will have its hands full with hypersonic carrier killer missiles and man-made island bases in the South China Sea, but you can be certain China's growing forward based international military presence and its allies will take the opportunity to keep our allies out of the conflict or occupied, and the homeland will be hit by asymmetric and hybrid warfare attacks such as hacking and viruses destroying or disrupting our infrastructure (power, communication, water, bridges, rail networks) and accidents requiring the immediate attention of government and emergency services (oil and chemical spills, large and widespread fires in cities and forests, adulterated water and food supplies), and EMP and anti-satellite attacks to stop most communication. Such attacks will also quickly cause rioting, crime, and disease. Any one of these attacks can overwhelm a city or region, but 20-50 at one time across the country would cripple the country. You cannot raise and train and army when there is no food in stores, no potable water to be found, cities are filled with looters and their weakened and dying victims, and most of the country is trying to keep their families alive and safe. I hope we are prepared to play this dirty too, but the liberal mindset probably would prefer to surrender than hurt trees, animals, or innocent civilians.

I always assume incompetence first. There will be an investigation, but we'll probably never know the full story. All I know is the port being shut down from this is bad. Very bad.

Kerry, Gore and others have shown they will disregard the welfare of the environment or innocent citizens, in accomplishment of their liberal goals.

Singapore routinely 'registers' vessels 'owned' and operated by many nations to operate under it's flag, especially China. Probably at least one shell company involved in the ownership/operator train of documentation is SOP for international maritime practices.

Seems 'convenient' that a probably CCP owned vessel should 'accidently' take out a major US transportation asset of our busiest east coast port city.

From the beginning I figured that ship was ChiCom.
Being chinesium that P.O.S. probably did have a massive turbine failure.
You can bet your bippy they will not pay a dime for restitution.

Not buying the power outage story. Yes I saw lights go on and off, but it sure looked like it sped up and steered into it.

How about disgruntled employee said he was going to ram bridge and they tried to shut off power to stop him and it did not work. Yeah, I will buy that.

A plausible scenario, except, there should’ve been an American pilot on board conning the ship. Probably something like the Baltimore pilots association. Ships that size aren’t allowed into harbor without.

Will be interesting to hear his story, and or read the NTSB report
