Well, I consider myself pretty liberal. Liberal in a classic "maximum personal liberties" way, not the more modern meaning of liberal. I definitely don't identify myself as a "good Christian" either. I don't think about religion enough to label myself anything. I haven't been run off yet. I also don't get into pissing contests over opinion. You find me just ONE (1) liberal on this website that people haven't simply run off! Many of you are so FAR RIGHT and PISSED OFF at the system that you go out of your way to even make moderates like myself feel unwelcome as often as possible (I'm looking directly at you, West Texas. At least Skeeter is humorous about it.) There is no such thing as a liberal viewpoint on Texas Gun Talk unless I CHOOSE to point out another side to an argument and it's pretty damned pathetic that some of you can read an article that calls half of Americans a "cancer" and call it "spot on". Hmm, sounds a lot to me like the kind of speech that, oh, to bring up somebody that has already been mentioned in this topic, HITLER might say.
I bet the same people that call that article "spot on" would also identify themselves as "good Christians", hmm?
+1T Before WWI, most Americans claimed their first alligence to their state and not the United States.
good choices there TC!! i like both of them..John Stossel....Bernard Goldberg. Whoops, thats 2
we know there CW, cause they're not on CNN,CNBC or Air America!!!I'm not familiar with the ones that texascop2 listed.

I would say the article is spot on except on two points.
1) When the author says "liberal", I think he really means "progressive" or "Americana socialist". I really think most people miss-use the word liberal these days. Of course, I'm not sure that the "progressive" moniker fits either, but that's what the people with those ideals originally called themselves... I feel progressive ideas are a cancer that loves to spread, and those ideas need to be met head on and challenged.
2) I doubt Obama will be remembered in the annals of history as the guy that woke up America. Is it happening? Yes indeed, but there are still tons of folks that think FDR was a great prez. A lot of that has to do with people spinning the truth, but people as a whole tend to view history through rose colored glasses. Same will happen for Obama. 100yrs from now the history books will say he was the first black US president, and they probably wont say much else other than that.
moderates like myself ?
HEY!! you just described me!!! just ask CW.....I AM EXTREME RIGHT. I am so far right that most "conservatives" would be considered leftist if my way of thinking were the benchmark. I'm proud of that fact. I realize that government is necessary. But, when government oversteps it's intended limitations, it is time to be extreme, very extreme.
What, exactly, is a moderate? What do moderates want?
Do you want moderate national debt?
Do you want moderate illegal immigration?
Do you want moderate civil rights violations?
Do you want moderate gun control?
Do you want moderate redistribution of wealth?
Do you want moderate abortion rights?
Do you want moderate income taxes?
Do you want moderate stimulus?
Do you want moderate bailouts?
Do you want moderate government regulation?
Do you want moderate government health care?
Do you want moderate government control "cradle to grave"?
What the hell is a moderate? Better yet, what exactly do moderates want?
I think moderates want to to be labeled as such to be able to say, "I am not extreme, one way or the other". Extreme is not such a bad word. The founders would be considered extreme today. The framers of the Constitution would also be thought of as extreme.

Thats an "extreme" response.....Hmm, there is so much wrong with this post where should I even begin? I'll probably end up on two or three watch lists just for replying to this guy.
First off -- I absolutely refuse to play some stupid kind of word game with you over the term 'moderate'. You know damn well what that means and if you don't then you're in the wrong place.
Extreme is absolutely a bad word and I hate it when self-proclaimed "extreme" thinkers liken themselves to the founding fathers of our country stating that "they were extreme". WEARING SHORTS was extreme in the 1700s. You and your kind are nothing like the framers of the Constitution. More like the hijackers that flew planes into the World Trade Center or Timothy McVeigh. You and your extreme friends are every bit what is wrong with the world today, so don't glorify the batshiat crazy ideals that you hold dear.
That said, I have no interest in talking to you. Extremists living near me are trying to kill me every single day and it's my job to see that they don't. You're going straight to the ignore list.
yes she does. im not a huge Palin fan (politically), but she is easy on the eyes.
The conservative chicks are always way hotter than the libs.
