I needed to remove the barrel nut from the Remington Autoloading Repeating rifle I got from a forum member.
The original tool that was used by gunsmiths is obsolete and NLA.
There is an easier way to remove the nut and spring retainer.
I found a steel spacer that fit over the nut and was wide enough to drill for a threaded stud.
When the nut is removed, a straight edge can be used to unscrew the spring retainer after the barrel end is pulled back from the muzzle.
The spacer/tool has a 3/4" ID and slides right over the barrel nut. The threaded stud is M6 X 1.00 with the end ground to a small 'peg' the fits the hole in the barrel nut.
Hope this helps some NOT damage the barrel nut.
