A lot of people struggle trying to obtain things they want, and don’t focus on the things they need. Once basic needs are met, one can expand to luxury items, most of which are just wants and not needs.

Absolutely, preparedness doesn't have to be so complicated or full of super expensive and luxury items. Just start simple with the basics, and be patient and build it up to higher quality things if possible.
