I didn't see a lawn mower thread, move it as necessary please.
My 54 inch Zero Turn Husqvarna 4 year old battery has died.
Other than walmart, where is possibly the best place for a replacement?

Tractor supply may have what you want. Last I bought from them was Exide brand. I sold them many years ago when I was in the wholesale distribution industry. The company was sold to a group from India. But I have not had problems with them.

If you are talking about size U1 I just bought a new one at Sam's. Price has gone up but only Sam's seems to give a 6 months warranty and my last duracell from them lasted 5 years. Walmart and others give 3 months warranty.

You can assure yourself of getting the freshest on the shelf by reading the date code on the battery:

I also carry my battery load tester to verify. Batteries rarely last the warranty period now in my experience. Before load testing in the store, I once bought a new 500CCA battery and got home to find out it registered 449CCA. A new battery should always register well over the CCA rating and slowly degrade over time.

Ya I gotta get that one out to see what brand it is. I wand one as good or better so it will last 4 years. Most of the Oriley or Wal mart ones only last maybe 2 years.

You can also avoid checking for freshness or worrying about it if you get one you have to put the battery acid in yourself. They do that for smaller batteries for motorcycles, ATVs, sxs's, etc. I've done it once and thought it was a pretty neat way of avoiding getting an old battery.

Can I still get those gel batteries from Sears or do they still exist?
In the day, I thought they were pretty good.
If you are referring to Optima. They were goof batteries at one point. Moved production to Mexico and quality took a dip. I haven't owned one in a while . Maybe they are okay again.
