My dad has a springfield cavalry carbine in caliber 45-70 made by harrington and richardson. Beautiful rifle! He had a water leak in his house and didn't know it for a while. The rifles butt was on the floor.
The buttplate was originaly case hardened but finding someone around the Austin area to that may be immpossible......or am I wrong? Anyway, If I can, I would at the very least like to get it re blued for him after I get all the rust buffed off with a wire wheele.
Any of you guys know who does blueing or case hardening around the area?
