OK, probably a dumb question from a newbe in building ARs, but I will ask anyway.
What is the difference in semi and full auto BCG. Other than price. Can I get and use a full auto BCG in a semi auto or is it illegal?

Full auto BCG's are allowed. For example, Windham Weaponry uses M-16 bcg's, which are a full auto design. The M-16 design is good because it's a little heavier (due to more mass) than your standard AR bcg, which helps it prevent breaking, bouncing around, and also helps it get a good seat when you drive it forward. While you're at it, you should look into a barrel extension with M4 style feed ramps. These are cut a little wider which provides more reliability when feeding rounds into the chamber-especially if you happen to get a little dirt in the gun.

Thanks. I was planning on m-4 feed ramps on the barrel, not really any more in cost. Just was not sure about the BCG.

a full-auto bolt carrier is only different from a semi-auto in the profile of the carrier. The M16 bolt carrier has more mass and more weight to it, and is preferred. they are completely interchangeable in a semi-auto rifle and legal.
