    Forgive my ignorance here. Is there eqivilent round that could also be fired in my British 303? I know its a 7.62 caliber but 7.62x??? I don't know/understand. Newbie here. Thanks, Bill

    Not a chance of a similar round working. The .303 cartridge is fully rimmed and uses a bullet that is very similar to that used in the 7.7 Jap round. In fact, those of us who reload for the .303, use those exact projectiles. It's not similar to other .30 caliber rounds like the .308 (7.62 Nato) or the 30-06 which use a .308 diameter bullet. .303 jacketed bullet diameters run .311" and cast bullets can run .311-.313". Using the .308 bullets would be like shooting a dried pea down a water pipe!

    The .303 is a good round, ballistics are good for a 100 year old design and is well worth reloading for. In fact, the British Enfield rifles are some of my all time favorites!

    Barrel rifling is very deep and if yours has some corrosion or is dark from corrosion, it's usually of no consequence.
