That is ridiculous... Criminals will not use microstamping guns. If anything it's going to create a way to frame others by dropping someone else's brass at a crime scene.

This.....goto range pickup a few examples of brass from the caliber you use to commit crimes, take out your target, pickup your own brass and drop the other guys brass. I bet those dumbass CA investigators won't even look at any other evidence once they see this and the real culprit get away with murder scott free.

Heck even the dumb criminals will at least have the gumption to take out the firing pin and run it across some fine grit a few times effectively ruining the microstamp.

It's wrong in every way, and I can think of a hundred flaws that will prevent microstamping from being the least bit useful, and a few ways that would leave police with less evidence.

Doesn't matter though, the goal isn't crime prevention or catching criminals, it's increasing the cost of ownership and difficulty in getting guns proved for sale on CA.

A very low percentage of guns will have the stamp, criminals who intend to use a gun will file it off, won't be of any use on stolen guns except to data stolen gun was used (stamp will probably be filed off also), criminals might start making efforts to not leave any brass at the crime scene, meaning less evidence to piece together what to place.....just for starters.

Of course, they've probably already considered that the vast majority of guns will have been purchased before stamping requirements, and will use it as the reason for seeing no gains from microstamping. At that time they will require all guns be retrofitted with stamped pins and registered as such for a very expensive fee, turned over to the gov for a $25 Kroger card, or transferred out of state.

Since they already have registration they will be able to easily do safety and welfare checks on homes where these guns are registered to insure safety and security of the community.

Just another brick in the wall.

It would also create and awesome black market for buckets of the stuff. Can you imagine how much police it would take to keep all kinds of foreign unstamped erroneous brass from flooding into Kommiefornika. There are so many ways around this stamping bs.

Tom Gresham talked about this case yesterday on his show. Had a good guest from CalGuns. Well worth a listen on this subject.
He starts about 2:25 on the topic, and runs about 8 1/2 minutes long. Sounds like they got a real good case for overturning it on appeal.

Will start another thread about one of his other topics for all you Sig P220 fans :)

Microstamping baloney has been around for a long time, proven ineffective many times. Problem is that manufacturers will probably NOT make special variants so everybody gets it. About as effective as the stripe in your greenbacks.

Kommiefornikas idealistic utopia society would be one without guns at all. So what better way to get the guns off of the streets by creating piles of silly laws that the manufactures of these guns cannot or will not follow. Then when this elitist group of politicians and their ideology are complete, they will hold a press conference to show the world how perfect their agenda is and that everyone else should follow it.

CalGuns actually has a pretty poor track record in court.

Did you listen to what the man said, or just typed a comment based on what you have heard elsewhere????

Nobody with a conservative mindset has a good record in California on many issues, not just guns.

No, I said that because I've seen a list of court cases they've actively been involved in.

It was Ruger and Smith and Wesson that withdrew from the California market.

Being a former California resident with friends and family still there, this saddens me. If the decision gets appealed and goes high enough, it should get struck down. I just don't know how many years that will take...

I highly doubt S&W has withdrawn from LE sales. I know SIG is not going to comply with the microstamping, not sure about LE sales.
